Not really, you can sidestep almost everything. I've beaten gael with default gmod settings and half life settings, the way his tracking is set up allows you to avoid everything he has

If I may make a suggestion, and you probably get bothered all the time about this but for phase 2 & 3 you could just make a separate NPC, since there's no transition animation for the model from phase 1 to 2. Again, just putting that out there, I don't actually expect you to go through a new kind of fresh hell just because someone thought it would make a cool mod

That would be a Ringed Knight. There are three variants ingame, them being one with sword and shield, one with spear and greatshield, and one with two greatswords. Only one (Spear & Greatshield) is included as an NPC however, but the rest can be spawned as effects.
