@Syphond Pretty sure it does on the old planets. I think there is a new planet which could be missing the deep ores. Have to check that, gimme some time.
Syphond 10. juli 2022 kl. 15:46
does this still work?
Sajtgolyó51 17. juli 2020 kl. 7:25
Yeah, Mars looks to be a good alternative option to my idea's scenario, but that only goes for the landscape. Weather feels easymode-ish, and there don't seem to be any spiders at all.
Another possible start is the Alien planet with that spider swarm mod for Alien, but that mod seems to affect ore spawns there somehow, as my friend told me he was seeing ores 10m under there as well.
Having Workshop planets work with this mod would change things a lot, I think. I'm sure anyone using this and wanting more/different planets would appreciate that.

😁 Yeah I know that... We played on our own dedi, too. Lot's of mods, the enemy drone spawning mods improved a lot in the past 2 years. We were using BOB for automating building and repairing stuff. Making ores less common made us travel more which triggered more drone spawns. At the moment we are in other games but at some time we are coming back. Maybe we use another planet, because earthlike is boring.

God dammit, I just realized I went off track at one point in the wall of text. Oh well, you get the point :tgrin:

*uninhabitable, not inhabitable
Sajtgolyó51 17. juli 2020 kl. 6:59
Yeah, I figured that much once I read more about the mod, should've just deleted the comment. I'm now trying to make a planet I desire in Blender. I can tell more about it later.

The thing is, my friend and I were bored as shit with our save having broken several times because of the Nanite Factory mod, to the point that he even decided to buy a dedicated server in attempt to solve our issues. Pushed our amazing Kharak experience into bad memories with Clang and desynchronization. We decided to start a new, much more hardcore run, where we would start off with a crashed variant of my dropship that once managed to survive a 2km fall with mostly cockpit, wings, and tail critically damaged.

We found the Vel planet mod, and it looked AMAZING to us because on the paper it offers a harsh experience that we would enjoy, forcing us to stay on our toes and use land vehicles to traverse an inhabitable environment filled with threats through constant sandstorms. It was great until we realized that despite having this mod, which was, by plan, supposed to make us set up long-lasting mineshafts at Great depths & routes for autonomous resource deposits back to base. Mix that with the "AhhScrap!" mod among the others we have and realistic sounds, things looked grand, it was going to be an immersive experience. Well, weathers bypass realistic sound seting, which sucks, but we could live with that. Until we saw ores 10m under surface spawning every second step we made away from our "crash site" start, so we pretty much immediately got pushed away from playing there.

@Shas'Ui Demotana
Sadly no. There is a bit of work involved in exchanging/modifying the files for ore distribution and ore definition. What planet do you want to use? I've never used modded planets but maybe it's time to do so 😆

Will this work on a Workshop planet, though?

Love it i use it for my DS Server :) It works Together with (Scare Ressources)
:steamhappy:

Now updated for the new survival update!
FateFighter  [ophavsmand] 16. mar. 2019 kl. 1:20
Sure!
Sir Raum 15. mar. 2019 kl. 14:42
Yes the vanilla is 5 and you changed it to 1.25, I found out how to macro python scripts through regex in notepad++ to modify your mod on several areas, still learning how to mod. Is it alright if, when I am done, summarize my changes, credit you in the description, and upload this to the workshop?
FateFighter  [ophavsmand] 13. mar. 2019 kl. 7:04
You have to edit the file VoxelMaterials_asteroids.sbc. Just compare it with the original file in the SpaceEngineers data folder. The ratios may have been updated by keen, so it could be that it is not 4 times less anymore...
Sir Raum 12. mar. 2019 kl. 19:04
How can i modify the 4 times less return rate to be more forgiving?
FateFighter  [ophavsmand] 18. nov. 2018 kl. 3:13
Nope, this is only for vanilla planets, sorry!

dRuPpI 18. nov. 2018 kl. 0:51
does this also effect modded planets?
emperror 29. okt. 2018 kl. 8:21

FateFighter  [ophavsmand] 29. okt. 2018 kl. 8:03
It's possible in all directions, width, height, depth. You can't make them smaller (minimum on earth is 45m x 45m for one pixel) in an easy way, though.

Question is, how big should they be? Easiest is to increase them in a power of two. So twice as big? Four times? 8 times?
emperror 28. okt. 2018 kl. 22:11
I wonder if it is possible to change the size of the veins "sideways". Or is it only possible to change the depth of the veins ?
Sevarek 23. okt. 2018 kl. 10:46
yeah im useing that Scanner mod ;)
FateFighter  [ophavsmand] 23. okt. 2018 kl. 10:32
Thanks! Glad you like it. Look at the scanner mod down below, maybe that one helps :-)
Sevarek 22. okt. 2018 kl. 11:37
the Mod works great i like it alot, du need a long range ore scaner else it gets a bit too hard to find any ores ;)
FateFighter  [ophavsmand] 18. okt. 2018 kl. 13:17
Nope, they are around 2-3km away to each other. Using azimuth ore detectors you can cover a radius of 250m around a hole, going straight north 500m from the first hole covers an area of 500x250m. There is a mod to scan for ores, maybe that makes it easier.
Sevarek 18. okt. 2018 kl. 12:31
that is to bad hope you can find a salution. so if i find the first patch the nexst one will be in a radius of 500m from that one?
FateFighter  [ophavsmand] 18. okt. 2018 kl. 12:05
So I took a look. The spots are there, but they are so barely visible you need some glasses. You can see them if you are almost on the ground. I can not change the color or size of the spots, they are tied to the depth of ores and are calculated by SE, it seems. Even setting them to 100 or lower they are almost not visible any more.

I guess you have to make a plan and drill for ores every 500m in a grid until you find the first patch, using azimuth ore detectors.

I'll try to get in contact with Ghost722nd who made the "classic Deep Ores" mod. Maybe he has an idea.
Sevarek 17. okt. 2018 kl. 14:50
Cool it was on the Earth plannet i was looking.
FateFighter  [ophavsmand] 17. okt. 2018 kl. 14:32
Hm I'll have a look on that!
Sevarek 17. okt. 2018 kl. 14:09
btw i just tryed playing whit the deep ore version. but i cant findt any dark patches to indicate were there is ore? are you sure they work? i have no troble finding them in your other version?
FateFighter  [ophavsmand] 17. okt. 2018 kl. 13:58
So hardcore sparse deep ores? 😁 I'll see what I can do... 👌
Sevarek 17. okt. 2018 kl. 12:26
Can you make a even more hardcore version were ther only is one type of ore in ech deposive?
dRuPpI 16. okt. 2018 kl. 12:15
yeah bigger mineshafts
FateFighter  [ophavsmand] 16. okt. 2018 kl. 5:27
Should I increase the "height" of ore veins? Atm an iron ore patch consists of 20 cubes with sizes from 45x45x30m to 45x45x50m. You need to dig down 1010m, find iron, dig down another 30m - 50m, then iron is gone. Is that enough reward for digging down 1010m? Or should I make the cubes 100m deep? So one cube would be 45x45x100m...
dRuPpI 15. okt. 2018 kl. 16:27
cool thanks
FateFighter  [ophavsmand] 15. okt. 2018 kl. 11:06
Haha yeah, with this mod you have to totally rely on the "dark" spots. 😁
Sevarek 15. okt. 2018 kl. 10:02
im going to try it out. but i think i'll need a long range Ore detecktor ;)
