amazing mod thanks you ! Just wondering, is it normal that i can't select "empty slot" as secondary weapon ? it make this for many class, i'm trully wondering why. So if someone could help me i would be glad ! :)

This is an incredibly well made class. It's perfectly balanced, scales well into the endgame, and isn't overwhelmingly strong in the early game. Functions fine with no conflicts.

I have been using this mod since at least when they were called Riflemen I think it was. Love it thank you for your work on this Alpha.

@Unregistered Hypercam That is odd, no idea what could be causing that issue. Are you using any mods that add soldiers who get that rank normally?

ive been using this class for a while now, but all of a sudden my 3 vanguards can all promote to brigadier. but the perk screen doesnt go far enough. its still working fire just the "people can promote" notification wont go away.

@Ceckard Cain, it is up to speed with other classes, it goes to colonel like the vanilla and hero classes. If you mean brigadier rank that is LW2 classes and I dont do LW stuff.

Since you're still updating this mod it would be nice if we could get an extra rank, to bring it up to speed with the regular classes.

@WilsoN5 a bit late but this latest update should have fixed this.

The ability icon for "Close Encounters" seems to be missing, and shows a "missing img" icon instead.

At first I thought too powerful a class, but by the end I found it very fun and not terribly out of line - favorite pistol class currently.

@Alpha115, I found the problem with the perk issue I mentioned, I found it to be another mod conflicting. It was chimera classes and the cpp framework. Once removed, started a new game, the localizations were back to normal, and the vanguard went back to using the rifle and pistol as usual no glitches. Oddly it only effected the Vanguard not your other soldier class mods. Must be a conflict with extended perk pack and cpp framework with the vanguard. I haven’t seen any other post’s with this issue so a heads up if it occurs.

@Alpha115, hey there are some localisation errors in the vanguard screen and when the vanguard returns fire with the pistol it will use the rifle as a pistol. This and the localisation errors occurred at about the same time recently. Can u check it out, thanks.

I Will not update for LWOTC since I do not play it. This mod was made for WOTC. If you want to make a LWOTC version of my classes feel free but I will not.

For anybody else wanting to make custom soldier class leveling more commensurate with other classes, the secret sauce is apparently KillAssistsPerKill= in XcomClassData.ini.

I changed this value from 2 to 4 and leveling is consistent with other classes now. I did the same for Commando, one of this author's other classes that I employ.

@Alpha115 where can I adjust the XP required per rank? I've noticed Vanguard levels up much quicker than other soldier classes and want to adjust it accordingly. I've searched through all the ini files and know about DefaultGameData_XpData.ini for the standard classes but can't figure out why Vanguard is different. Thanks!

Endurance (gain +4 mobility) doesn't seem to work properly. Can you confirm?

Just finished a campaign with about 280 mods, this one included, and had no major issues! Thanks for making this.

And yes, Hip Fire is amazing. The combination with Lightning Hands is hilarious, too.

I am very happy to see this re-made version. The old "rifleman" class used to be a very powerful class, but it was also a bit of OP.

Excellent job on the Vanguard, a lot of useful skills the more I delve into it.

@jordster100 I love hip fire as well its a fun little ability.

Had a genuine panic when I started a new campaign and thought I'd lost my favourite class but after reading through the changes this all looks interesting and I'm not sad to see Hold the Line go. Very happy to see we still have access to Hip Fire, personally my favourite ability.

@bisaster What do you mean? If you downloaded the latest update you can rebuild the soldiers class with a mod provided in the description. I have even given instructions on how to do it.

@szekrenyi they are two separate class mods you can literally use both in your game. The vanguard has a completely different playstyle then the new rifleman class I made. This is same class I just removed hold the line skill which was broken (and broke people's games) and added a third skill tree.

The old version was definitely one of my favorites, but I will leave my options for the new version until after I've had some time to playtest it. However, I very strongly feel that you SHOULD have made this as a separate mod to let us have the choice between the two versions, especially since you changed the name. (Kind of like how K's officer class has both a normal and an alternate version depending on the player preference).

@Ceckard Dain No worries. I actually made a new class mod that you might enjoy if you like the old Rifleman being more overwatch focus. Hold the line is still gone but they have Rapid Reaction which is a pretty good balanced alternative.

I overreacted, sry for that. I loaded my save and just retrained my guys. All good. I agree that hold the line was really strong. Now I'm content giving my guys guardian instead. All is fine.
Still a great class.

@Midevil Chaos, I mean a class that uses shotgun are not 100% pure rifleman. As for ruining your project sorry about that but I build mods for fun. I don't know what you mean by me messing up a project you were working on. I am working on other Class mods, the term rifleman can be used for another class I am working on.

...I appreciate the work as well... but I spent a month working on something that specifically was using the term Rifleman... That ruined my entire project at this point. You should have created a duplicate instead using the [new] term Vanguard in this iteration :/

I don't understand why you modded the term. I am sure a duplicate with the term Vanguard would have been perfect for those who preferred the term Vanguard.

We implore you to switch it back to Rifleman and create a duplicate with the term Vanguard instead.

OMG, I appreciate the work and update but it just ruined my campaign, Half of my skills are gone. Riflemen was my fav class. Starting a new game and i will give them a try.

@Dmc32, yes hold the line has been removed but I think the new stuff kind of makes up for it. I mainly removed hold the line because it was a little to good combined with CQC specialist.
