You're not wrong that the tribal names in Vanilla sound "Spanish". To be precise they are Galician. Many of the names from that region are pretty old, dating back to medieval times; though certainly I don't think there were any tribes there in the 12th century since most of Europe had adopted the feudal system by then.

Now available for RimWorld 1.0: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1539314168

(In the 1.0 update, which is fully backwards-compatible with b19, Tribal factions and settlements have names consistent with the new pawn names.)

@Swarx: Interesting idea. It ought to be possible, and would certainly be a cool option to add to the mod.

Can you make this so that some tribes use this system, while other tribes use the default one? Could add variety.

Thank you so much, I've been needing this.

I'm testing a few changes to "Tribal Raiders," but of course have this mod active in my list, too. And sometimes it throws out really great nicknames. One of the raiders in my last test raid was nicknamed "Wasted Gorilla." :D

The only thing I can think of for tribal factions is the variety - although, to be fair, many of the famous tribal groups historically were called the "x confederacy," though that was a biproduct of their actual organization. What I'd do (and what I'm planning on doing for Outlanders) is replace most of the names based on real words with exotic-sounding phonetics.

Oh, the "how," I understand. :) It's the "what" I'm asking about. I'm not sure yet (at least in part because I haven't really looked) what needs to be changed in the current names. What things can crop up in tribal faction/settlement names that shouldn't, and what things *should* be possible that aren't.

@Rainbeau Flambe At the risk of you possibly making a better mod than the one I have planned, my idea is to patch each faction's def to change the RulePackDef they use to one in the mod. I'm focusing on outlanders and pirates anyway, so there shouldn't be any conflict there.

@dninemfive: I'm actually thinking about adding faction and settlement names to this, though I'm not sure exactly how to change them yet. (Any ideas are welcome!) As to "Names Galore," load order shouldn't matter, as there's no reason for them to be conflicting at all.

@Rainbeau Excellent mod! I had the same general idea, but I never got around to it, though I might do something with faction and settlement names. As for compatibility with Names Galore, loading this mod after that one should work fine, right?

Simply awesome, thank you so much for your hard work Rainbeau Flambe!

Oh this looks wonderful! Thank you for this!

Thanks a HUGE lot. The fact that the tribal visitor log looked like the accomodations list of Hotel Noah's Ark was a bit silly. :D

@Iloki: I almost called the mod "Better Tribal Pawn Names," but decided not to, as "better" is far too subjective. ;)

Thanks Rainbeau, these names sound a lot better.

Seems nice.

Great mod. Disregard the previous comment I had before, I suck at reading comprehension.
