i really want to play this mod, but im confused if i should download the data file first or the steam files first?
i have tried both ways and also the auto installer.
every time, i end up being able to run the game but there is no sound and no new factions on campaign or custom.
please help
Regarding some bugs and issues, I only have some with Naval Bombardment during land battles, tried to play as Britain, the early game bombardment with 3 uses works fine and never crash my game once. Only until I recruited a general with "New Methods" (+2 Naval Bombard Uses) that I started to run into crashes, after the first battle with this particular General i notice that every other battles afterward with or without the perk will let you use 5 Naval Bombardment instead of 3. Although, the crash doesn't happen every time but i can be very frustrating. Just think of it as a cool ability you can use but has a 25% chance of blowing in your face, and don't forget to make Quick Save everytime before a battle.
I made sure to install the data.pack on the author's site but that did not help any, even if I installed the mod as a single file from the developer's site.
But I managed to fix them myself and I share these with you.
First I managed to fix just the unit names by modding the text files in the mod pack and adding a prefix, in my case just "fots_" to all the text entries in the mod and that fixed the units.
Then I managed to fix the rest by deleting the script file in appdata -> The Creative Assembly -> Shogun 2. I am led to believe this method fixes problems with many mods if the game was installed before the update on May 2023.
If you are facing the same problems, I recommend deleting the script files first. If that fixes everything, great, if not, then try the first thing.
because the units look like poop textures
