@Symphonique It's definitely something I would consider doing! Thank you for the feedback and encouragement. :)

It would be super awesome if you could turn this into a DLC for Tabletop Sim once you're all done making the game. o: The quality is amazing and would definitely pay for it, especially if it had a custom background and everything!

Yeah, that's what I've heard. I'm trying out your new rules, I'll report back with any thoughts. Good luck in it all, regardless I'll be playing for a bit and I'll try to get a TTS group together to play a 5 player game.

@Truck Sideiron Thank you for the support! I made some mistakes with the KS launch, and decided it was best to cancel this first launch and give it a second try using the experience I've picked up this first time. I have also reached out to the community over at BGG for advice and feedback on the campaign.

The relaunch will be MUCH better, and I am certain we will make Neon Dawn happen! :)

If you'd like to be notified of the relaunch progress and date, once it has been set, you can sign up for the Caldwell Games mailing list at www.CaldwellGames.com

Everyone on the mailing list is automatically entered for chance to win a Neon Dawn Preview Copy (ready to play right now!) once the relaunch has successfully funded! :)

So far this is great. Played a couple two player games and am stoked about the game. Really enjoy the art, theme, and the mechanics. I'll be backing the kickstarter soon. And I'll definately be trying to get some of my groups playing it on TTS asap

Neon Dawn Kickstarter campaign is now live!

This does sound interesting.

So... Neon Dawn is 95% complete, but I have no issue making refinements and rule tweaks (that are tested and consistently increase player enjoyment) all the way up to when I send the final print files to the factory. That said, I've been testing some tweaks that so far show a lot of promise in streamlining the pace, reducing the total amount of rolling, and I think will cut off maybe 10-15 minutes per player.

Anyone interested in the tweaks currently in testing? :)

Want to say I really enjoy the game and will absolutely back this on KS. I hope its a massive hit, because I want to see Stretch Goals!

Looks amazing....

I have released a daily blog called The Adventurer's Log. Each log entry follows "The Adventurer" Quick Start Build through a game of Neon Dawn in story fashion. The actual game mechanics of each entry are explained after the story, so you can learn to play as well as follow along with our hero's ascension to legend!

The first entry can be found at http://caldwell.games/Log1

I hope you enjoy the adventure! :)

@TastyBacon Thanks for the feedback! I have had similar thoughts about overarching story, but too late in the process to figure out a way to work it in that felt right. Neon Dawn was intentionally designed to always provide a unique adventure and overarching stories tend to put the story on rails. That said, this is the first game that I have designed, and assuming everything goes the right way, I have ideas for more building upon what I've learned the first time through. Evolving story in a streamlined and intuitive format (with minimal messing with stuff during play) is definitely a puzzle that I have been giving spare CPU cycles to! :)

First of all, absolutely love this game and the mod after my first playthrough. Definitely planning on backing the KS once it's live! The only thing that I wish the game had was a more 'overall' story to the world. Similar to how the Fallout boardgame operates, where the outcome of an encounter can add/remove/change other encounters in the world. I'm not sure how it could be implemented with the current system, but that would take this from being a great game, to one of the greatest for me. Either way, awesome stuff, and can't wait to see if/how it evolves from here!

@Elder_Salt Neon Dawn is not cooperative at all as of now. I may eventually create a coop play mode, but so far, it is competitive. Each player is individually trying to become the most famous adventurer and earn their place in wasteland legend. There is an optional PvP ruleset included, but PvP is 'off' by default.
SaltyO 11. sep. 2018 kl. 22:43
you had me at post-apocalyptic and modular. Small question that may seem obvious: this is a fully co-op game, yes? Or is it not? Or is it semi-co-op? Is it as ruthlessly Randian as Gloomhaven, or does it foster a more traditional share the wealth and help the party kind of feel?
dr pepper m.d. 28. aug. 2018 kl. 14:55
yeah, i have 4gb ram but my graphics card is kinda weak and only has 512mb vram. ill try it out regardless, and if not ill definitely pledge to the kickstarter when it happens.
Trik  [ophavsmand] 28. aug. 2018 kl. 10:10
@mara Sorry, I have no idea on that one. The only real hardware requirement listed on the Steam page for Tabletop Simulator is 4GB RAM, but it also says that users report variable frame rates depending on system hardware. I would guess that the more assets there are in the play environment, the harder the system has to work, and there are quite a few assets loaded at all times with the Neon Dawn mod. That said, I'm not sure there is a way around that.
Deadpoetic6 28. aug. 2018 kl. 7:37
aaaaaahhhhhh found it!! I though it was a player board so I didnt noticed!
TwinHilt 28. aug. 2018 kl. 7:25
@Deadpoetic it's the brown bag neat the fame board with the colored tokens and settlemetn action board.
Deadpoetic6 28. aug. 2018 kl. 7:21
I must be really dumb because I just cant find it!
dr pepper m.d. 28. aug. 2018 kl. 6:08
how friendly is this to low-end systems? i apparently meet the system requirements for tts but tend to get 15fps in game on average, but i really wanna play this without waiting for a physical copy through kickstarter.
DreamerPanda 27. aug. 2018 kl. 16:24
this is actually a great board game and a great mod, thank you for letting us play here :)
Trik  [ophavsmand] 27. aug. 2018 kl. 9:21
@Deadpoetic I believe the salvage draw bag is located to the right of the Fame board at setup. That empty brown bag looks like it may just be an overlooked artifact component from development. Thanks for pointing it out! It blends in pretty well. :D
Deadpoetic6 27. aug. 2018 kl. 9:00
Is it me or is the salvage bag missing/empty?

There is a brown bag near the cards decks, but it's empty. I cant find anything else beside that

You're welcome! If you are enjoying Neon Dawn, please share it with your friends and on social media. I would really appreciate it! And if you do decide to share, please feel free to use screenshots, share opinions, reviews, whatever. Thank you! :)
TwinHilt 26. aug. 2018 kl. 16:12
@Trik Yeah I found it. Thank you so much for the reply and putting this game up! I look forward to backing it!
boylegd 26. aug. 2018 kl. 15:04
This looks awesome! Thanks!
Trik  [ophavsmand] 26. aug. 2018 kl. 14:45
Yes, there is a PDF version of the rules on Tabletopia. I need to get one up on the CaldwellGames.com website. When I do, I'll get the link posted in the description. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have a PDF of the Adventure Book handy either.
Fab 26. aug. 2018 kl. 13:15
Nevermind, I found them on tabletopia
Fab 26. aug. 2018 kl. 12:59
Hello, the game caught my eyes but I haven't tried it yet. Can you release the prototype rulebook as a pdf? I would like to read it on my phone before trying the mod.
Trik  [ophavsmand] 26. aug. 2018 kl. 5:59
@HomoSwegerMaster If there is no FAIL condition listed and it is a Combat Check, the default failure is a single wound. If there is no FAIL condition listed and it is a Survival Check, the only consequence is the Action spent. I believe you can find this in the Combat & Survival Checks section of the manual, although it just very briefly mentioned. I hope this helps!
Xekura 26. aug. 2018 kl. 4:52
Great job, Can't wait to kick this game!
TwinHilt 25. aug. 2018 kl. 23:27
I have a question regarding adventures, some of them that require a skill check don't have fail results, so if I were to fail a roll what happens then? Do I take 1 wound (thats what I've been doing) or do I just ignore the pass and nothing happens?
Trik  [ophavsmand] 25. aug. 2018 kl. 14:28
Thanks for checking Neon Dawn out! The salvage draw bag is just to the right of the Fame board at setup.
Tasha 25. aug. 2018 kl. 13:57
hey, was wondering where the salvage draw bag was, couldnt find it
-thanks
Trik  [ophavsmand] 25. aug. 2018 kl. 9:03
You're welcome! Actions are completed sequentially, so you must complete your Move Action before initiating the Investigate Action. It is often best to place your pawn in a hex that allows for several non-move Actions in a row (Scout, Points of Interest, Salvage Sites, etc) before having to move again.
Playerslayer21 25. aug. 2018 kl. 3:58
Thank you for the mod. Just have a tiny rules question, does investigating a location end your moment or are you free to keep moving afterwards?
Trik  [ophavsmand] 24. aug. 2018 kl. 21:20
Thank you for the compliments! I hope you have fun playing! :)
guinotrool 23. aug. 2018 kl. 4:56
awesome idea. more people should do as you did
Man or Monster 20. aug. 2018 kl. 14:06
Great idea to release this as a mod before the Kickstarter. I hope it's successful!
