these seem to do something, indicated by the batteries charging, but they do not power my electrical grid, is there anything i am missing to hook these things up?

This is not possible to do in ark, since shadows are only visual if you turned them on
And even then i dont think unreal engine is cabable of doing this

So, a question if the solar panel is in shadow, does that effect its efficiency?
I assume it does not, however I seem to have gone from 24 or so hours worth of battery life, to 7...

CrazyGunner I would guess the reason it doesn't work is because vanilla fabricators use gasoline only, they can't be hooked up to a generator at all. An as for the S+ one, well, that's a different mod. So it sounds like a mod mismatch issue. The mod is designed to work with the vanilla structures, and the S+ versions of vanilla structures which already use electricity, should work fine, but not if the vanilla one doesn't use power.

If you are using this in Extinction, you will still need batteries even though it never gets dark. So if it doesn't work, check the time, add some batteries and wait a bit. (To the Author: not a complaint, I would use the time variable too rather than attempt find some way to check the light level, I imagine that isnt in the SDKs. This mod is already amazing!)

Does this power the fabricator? I've got an outlet wired up right next to it but it's not powering up.

Just dont do what I did guys. Make sure you add a battery. Bit hard to craft at night without one LOL

Ah okay, no worries. =) Yeah, I want to add a Tek version that’s wireless, and also a flat version that lays on top of ceilings so that you don’t have to place it on a foundation.

So an actual request: Is there any way you could make a wireless version of this? Also could it be made to place on the ground directly? Requiring a foundation is kind of bad for remote outposts because foundations block resource spawns. So do ceiling tiles too so we can't even put this on a pillar with ceiling either.

Hey Aquafawks, I’ll double check that it’s still working, and fix it if not. Basically the way it works is the solar panel checks to see how many batteries you have when nighttime arrives, and that’s how many hours of power you have. If you ever take the batteries out during the night, they’re considered “reset” and will need to be charged again the next day.

At some point in the future I’m planning to overhaul the batteries to make them work like the charge batteries from Aberration, just to simplify everything. =)

@Hirnsausen: The batteries are permanent. =) For every battery in the Solar Panel's inventory, it gains 1 additional in-game hour of night-time energy storage. So for example, if night on your server lasts for 8 hours, then you'd need to craft 8 batteries to have uninterrupted power. However, maps like Aberration might have longer nights occasionally, so you might need to craft more batteries. =)

Before I use this promising mod, I need to know if the batteries decay after they got used up. Real batteries in real life can be recharged. What about your batteries? Hope you don't mind me asking. :-)

Dun understand why solar power and dino power not introduced to the official items...they should be part of the electricity source in such an island.

Hey ZombieSkull, I installed this on Crystal Isles and did some testing, but I wasn't able to replicate the glitch that you're seeing. If you're not able to learn the engram, it sounds like the server and client versions of the mod are out of sync. I'd recommend deleting your local copy of the mod (and allow Steam to re-download it), and making sure your server is up to date.

for some reason this stopped working for me, the map is Crystal Isles and i was able to use it before. had one set up and made about 20 batteries but now its gone, still getting power from where it was, i see the engram and when i try to learn it it just doesnt let me. any way to fix this??

Great mod, but as mentioned before, a silent mode would be awesome. Buzzing is hyper annoying.

Hey Mike, I just installed it on my testing server, and loaded up my single-player -- and the mod worked in both places.

It sounds like the mod isn't installed correctly somehow. Sometimes it helps to unsubscribe, delete your local copy of the mod, and then resubscribe. If there was anything I could do on my end, I'd gladly look into it. Let me know. Good luck!

The solar panels do not appear to be in the game for me. I am playing on scorched earth with this mod 1st in my load order. It doesn't show up in the engrams and crafting menu, and trying to spawn it yields nothing.
