I really like this scenario. If I could add someting, I'd like to have the chance to play the "reliable mode" as well. I enjoy (for example) a good Lindon-Gondor war allied with Mordor some time, but I'd love to play according to Tolkien's story too.

I'd have 4 recommendations in that line:

1. Starting locations in their proper places.
2. Blocking technological progress beyond middle age.
3. Adding more civs or city-states (Isengard, Dale/Lake-Town, Lorien, Gundabad, The Carrock, Rivendel...) or reducing (even deleting) Barbarians instead.
4. Pre-stablished and invariable relations (friendship, peace, war).

Thank you for your hard work. Congrats!

@Sherlocl Halms: Yes you can!

Can I use this map for a scenario of the war of the ring?
James_C 22. nov. 2017 kl. 14:24
Would it be possibe to colaberate this with a moder who has created Middle Earch Civs? Or possibly make this compatable with Civilizations of Middle Earth Pack? I don't exactly know how much work would go into this, but I think this would work amazingly if you could use those civs and set them to specific start locations.

Another possibility is also in adding City States to take on roles of minor factions like Dale?
Just a few ideas. I am a huge fan of LOTR. Subscribed xD

Hope these ideas might be useful!

@Donald Keller My thoughts exactly!
Nerd-Man 20. sep. 2015 kl. 9:18
V What Donald Keller said, or just the entire world of Arda in general.

Femka, i tried to edit the map in world builder (for personal use, of course) and it always crashes. Any solution ?
IGA_012 30. dec. 2014 kl. 11:58
@walraven007 The problem there is that there are several representations of the world of Arda.
I'd personally be interested in seeing Beleriand and Middle Earth together.
Strider009 31. aug. 2014 kl. 23:00
This is a pretty good representation of Middle Earth. This was an extremely fun map to play on. I was wondering. I have a couple pictures of what all of middle earth is suppossed to look like, all the way south and to the east. Would you be interested in making an accurate representation of these pictures?

ez.Tic Tic Boom, that is an extremely sad way to advertise your mod.
You should be ashamed.

Michael is correct about Rohan modeled on Anglo-Saxons (with a touch of the Visigoths) -- please read Tolkien's actual foreword in Fellowship, instead of relying on Peter Jackson's interpretation alone! The Numenoreans (and the later men of Gondor) are more like Christian Rome with a touch of the Atlantis myth (hence the lost island of Numenor). I have a Ph.D. in History and have studied Tolkien for over three decades, so I think I am qualified! ;-)

In reply to Sundance(The celts should be rohan, seeing as how rohan's culture in both tolkien and jackson's works is based of celtic peoples. Just my opinion) Rohan is based off of vikings and the dwarves are based off celts. Although the vikings eventually mixed into the celtic bloodline, they are very different.
King Kezza 18. feb. 2014 kl. 15:08
You guys are complete fags
Michaelhfb 7. jan. 2014 kl. 23:08
Culturally, Rohan is based on the Anglo-Saxons, and is mostly mounted in combat. Therefore it makes no sense whatsoever for Greece to be them. Also where is Harad?

I just created a new group for Civ V players who are also fans of LOTR. Do me the honor of joining .
whalex 13. okt. 2013 kl. 15:43
I'd like this a lot better if I didn't need G&K
harry 25. juli 2013 kl. 11:54
maybe you could make the scenario be good vs evil. This is as its annoying when suaron wants to befriend you and rohan denounces you when you're gondor.
Moominpappa 25. juli 2013 kl. 6:55
Can you change the factions to resemble the races of middle earth & maybe add custom city images ie; Minas Tirith & Isengard etc
Terranova2013 5. juli 2013 kl. 16:10
Add isengard.
Gurbe  [ophavsmand] 1. juni 2013 kl. 14:01
Yes.
Redbark 31. maj 2013 kl. 9:26
Do you need Gods and Kings with this?
Jokehr 4. maj 2013 kl. 19:52
At a glampse before downloading, yours already seems more accurate than mine. I'm going to need to download it for play before I can tell you if you've fallen into a few map design pitfalls that I've seen others fall into, but it looks like it's going to be enjoyable. My only worry is your use of the mountains. I'll give you an honest review once I've played a game. Have a great awesome.

I was hoping that the civs had been changed to reflect middle earth civs. all this mod seems to be is just the map with regular civilizations, pity as i was really looking forward to playing this map.
Sonor 20. apr. 2013 kl. 16:24
Sorry to say, but i can't get the mod to show up at all:/ I turned off other mods and looked for custem advanced setup, but it didn't help:(

r there any deserts in this map
Gurbe  [ophavsmand] 15. apr. 2013 kl. 2:14
Thank you Afoklala (Dank je wel!). I have added it in the description.
----
In the future I want to make this mod much more LOTR like, with really custom civs and much more. Stay tuned.
Afoklala 14. apr. 2013 kl. 6:20
Hoi Femke,
It appears that your mod is not compatible with either 'Custom Advanced Setup Screen', or 'Really Advanced Setup', or both. When I turned these off, things suddenly worked as you described them. You might want to add a note to that effect in your mod description.
Enjoying your mod now, thanks, Jan Willem
LuctorEtSubmergo 12. apr. 2013 kl. 7:39
How do I get the scenario to work?
Afoklala 12. apr. 2013 kl. 7:21
Tried this twice. Map did appear, but not the civs. Apparently, there are conflicting mods (I use a lot of them). The size of the map seems a bit large for just 9 civs; it takes a long time before meeting all the others, and the space in between is so large that there is hardly any need for conflict.
Calorieman 11. apr. 2013 kl. 8:41
My suggestion is that you could add a few natural wonders such as Erebor, Mount Doom, The Crystal Caves. It would add a nice touch to the game since most other themed maps/mods never add special natural wonders at all.
mross1a1 8. apr. 2013 kl. 16:15
Is it possible to cap the world age at the classical era?
Gurbe  [ophavsmand] 8. apr. 2013 kl. 9:28
@bigguyxx5: Working on that (don't know if it's even possible). In-game (after start) the custom civilization names are already working!
The Major Grand Nope 8. apr. 2013 kl. 3:18
what no eagles or elves, but elves are one of the most importan civs
Legionlite 7. apr. 2013 kl. 17:23
It a cool map but maby you could put the names of the civs like Gondor or Rohan so i know who i am playing as when i start
Gurbe  [ophavsmand] 7. apr. 2013 kl. 13:19
I very much like the idea of a navigable Aduin river... implemented it! You can sail from halfway the misty mountains on! Thank you blue17lion! Added two more civs: Easterlings and Elves of Lindon. Renamed 'The Elves' to 'Woodelves'.
WaterVapor 7. apr. 2013 kl. 7:26
Great map! If I could make one suggestion, though, I would say that you should make the Anduin navigable. This way, one could have naval battles like there are in the book. Plus, Mordor would have to embark to invade Gondor. Also, you might want to add a few more civilizations like Isengard, the Haradrim, and the Men of the East. Still, this is the most accurate map of Middle-Earth by far.
Gurbe  [ophavsmand] 5. apr. 2013 kl. 23:47
Nooow: That would be a total conversion. I plan to turn this thing into that one day.... That would include trolls too :D. First things first.
Ry2D2 5. apr. 2013 kl. 22:03
No eagles or elves or anything? :(
Gurbe  [ophavsmand] 5. apr. 2013 kl. 4:12
Especially need comment on the distribution and amount of resources / goodies. Don't forget to mention wich civ you were playing.

Please report any problems with this map, so I can fix it.
