@DestrockQc

This mod extends how far the game will load in (draw) objects. Example: enemies will show up further away than in vanilla, base game.

10/10

At first, the change this mod makes is very very subtle. Then, you realize you're not accidentally running into elite mobs all the time. This minimal change is very, very nice and feels very much in spirit with the gameplay and game design of the vanilla game.

9 years and they still didn't patch that issue?
Brian 2. mar. 2019 kl. 13:51
This mod allows the graphics card to completely fill in the screen with graphics. I mainly noticed a difference in some of the dungeons. It looked like the graphics card had rendered more areas of the dungeon. I thought this mod would create more graphics lag. I really think it had the opposite effect. Most people probably won't notice much difference with this mod loaded.

No need to update still works as a charm
Demarki 3. apr. 2017 kl. 2:48

Nicholas Steel 27. juli 2016 kl. 1:00
I'm interested in an update to this mod so that it is compatible with the latest version of the game.
Ixtaccihuatl 8. mar. 2015 kl. 23:30
Dangit any update? I hate the monster pop-in and invulnerability when they are a few feet away from the character.
Knochenonkel 6. feb. 2015 kl. 5:08
update?
Damocleze 7. jan. 2014 kl. 14:31
what does this do exactly?
ryunotenchi 25. dec. 2013 kl. 10:35
my ranger needs this
Meat Flaps 16. nov. 2013 kl. 13:28
draw distance would also inclue the background...i.e. foliage

i agree that this should have been called vision extender or whatever....

cool mod though keep up the good work
†ShowALK† 23. okt. 2013 kl. 9:35
Misleading: it does not increase DRAW distance, it increases your VISION.
Sgt. 2-Star 15. sep. 2013 kl. 20:43

This does not increase draw distance, as the name does not imply.
Der Bestimmer 7. sep. 2013 kl. 11:31
Hello, I used your mod in my compilation "MOD so MUCH": http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=175964910 . Credits were given.
btbrotherton 22. aug. 2013 kl. 21:49
What would you call this besides draw distance? Draw distance is the distance at which certain objects appear, it can be items, NPCs, light, shadows, anything. It's just the distance at which a specific object would appear, it doesn't matter if it's 3rd person, 1st person, or overhead view. TL2 has a short draw distance, the enemies don't appear until you are close to them, this increases that range at which they appear. The range at which the graphics for the enemies are drawn is increased with this mod.

Hi, I would like to integrate your mod into the mod-merge mod I am currently working on and building for personal use (and intend to later publish). Please let me know if you are ok with this. Thanks
FIREFLY 21. maj 2013 kl. 15:00
This is a zoom mod, yes?
Vargis 9. maj 2013 kl. 3:24
This has nothing at all to do with draw distance. Please rename.
Bandit 23. apr. 2013 kl. 12:18
I am formally requesting to include your mod in my compilation mod Combine Them All. I am asking for permission to use the whole/parts of your mod. Please respond in the discussion section http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/workshop/filedetails/discussion/139762325/810922320241337812/ with a yes, or a no. :) I appologize for getting the permission post-release of my mod, I was not intending to release it to the public initially.

Hello all. I just want to say that this mod is really useful for mages and other ranged classed characters,or any that like to see danger coming and time to react to it. At first I thought it was me or my monitor settings, and that was not it. Then I looked to see if adjusting viewing distance in game options and it was not there. In short the developers should have done this already.Kudos for thinking to adjust this prob. The mod does what is says it does, and that's enough for me. Rated:9/10 for nothings perfect!!!!
hadyn 13. apr. 2013 kl. 1:04
... So, this mod does *not* affect draw distance. What it does do, is to expand the character's "sight range", so that enemies are revealed to the player when they're within a greater range. This is a gameplay feature, not necessarily a performance feature. It's similar to the 'fog of war' you get in RTS games (again, not the same thing as draw distance).

For people wondering if it will affect your performance; it probably won't, most of the time. If you're in a particularly busy fight it will increase the potential number of enemies being drawn at once, which could slow you down a little on a lower-spec machine - but the same thing could happen even without the mod if enough enemies get too close to you. Just try it out, see how you go =]
hadyn 13. apr. 2013 kl. 1:03
Cool idea, but I fear calling this a "draw distance" mod is misleading...

<nerdspeak> Draw distance refers to how close to the camera an object has to be before it's drawn. It usually applies to distant characters, objects and terrain that is far from the *camera* (not from the player - unless it's first person). It's a performance thing - the engine tells video cards stop drawing things that are a certain distance away so that the game runs better. In any case, Torchlight -does not- use draw distance to improve performance. It's a top down game - you never get to see anything that's "in the distance", so there's no need for it to include that performance tweak. </nerdspeak>
Devious 10. apr. 2013 kl. 10:39
To those who don't understand what draw distance is, it is a setting that determines the range NPCS/PC's will be rendered on the screen. A game such as this where the camera only has one view the draw distance isn't overly important (unless of course you combine it with a camera mod that allows you to scroll out farther), but for some reason the draw distance by default is much shorter than the edge of your camera's view.

All this mod does it make it so creatures show up from a farther distance.
SBurrke 9. apr. 2013 kl. 18:07
Someone tell what this does i see what happened?
Zariak 9. apr. 2013 kl. 11:58
Thanks for this!
PickABetterName 8. apr. 2013 kl. 21:05
does this increase the system requirements at all? it looks interesting but i'm running on a shitty little netbook (FML).
Gharon 6. apr. 2013 kl. 14:21
It is a big improvement over the standard draw distance, but there's still some phasing of enemies at the edges from time to time.

Can the distance be increased further (without messing up things), or is this the maximum the game engine can do?
Steven Gundam 6. apr. 2013 kl. 13:40
A great mod that definitely does something. Monsters spawn about 1.5 times farther than vanilla (As in when I used a camera 1.5 times farther zoomed out they spawned at the very edge of my vision).
Thanks uploader
Call The Banners 6. apr. 2013 kl. 10:09
Will test this soon. Will be helpful for when I'm shotgonne-mad on my Outlander.
Gharon 6. apr. 2013 kl. 7:35
It's not the zoom factor... it's how far away enemies are rendered. They phase in a good deal later without the mod enabled. Just test it while slowly walking around and checking when enemies appear on your screen.

You should notice that they appear at the edges of the screen sooner, and don't vanish as quickly if you move away.
IchigoMait 5. apr. 2013 kl. 20:02
Lol, only like a feet lentgh of the character added from every edge.
General Chaøs™ 5. apr. 2013 kl. 15:25
@ Infirnex the difference is in the zoomed factor. Clearly the after the camera is further back. Very nice mod man, some areas the camera is super close by default which can be annoying.
Infirnex 4. apr. 2013 kl. 20:25
I don't see a difference. The after pictures looks like my stock game :(
Skeletorso 4. apr. 2013 kl. 11:00
A nice mod actually, I will say that it does change the balance of the game a bit, as enemies who can cast ranged spells or attacks now hit from a further distance away.
Xenonex 4. apr. 2013 kl. 5:50
Verrrry useful mod for Outlanders, if it's the one I'm think of. Is this the update version of this mod from the forums? http://forums.runicgames.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=39502
Cyrus 4. apr. 2013 kl. 2:12
it does what it says,if you don't have problems with draw distance, you don't need this, plain and simple, some of us have problems with it
Fallen 3. apr. 2013 kl. 20:25
What exactly does this do? I run 1920x1080 with all settings maxxed and I see mobs at the corners just fine.
el3c™ 3. apr. 2013 kl. 13:10
nice, thx a lot!
DreamDriven 3. apr. 2013 kl. 12:17
Seems legit, dosent unbalance the game and usefull... Approved !
*budd* 3. apr. 2013 kl. 9:41
when i start the game after i subscribe its says, download not found then it says downloading, then it says download timed out. Haven't been able to get it.
Levznik 3. apr. 2013 kl. 6:50
Interesting. Could be useful for my embermage against those stupid turrets.
Gharon 3. apr. 2013 kl. 3:39
Tested it as well and enemies do show up farther away than normal. Especially noticable on the top left and right corners (which are pretty much the "farthest" you can see with the default camera angle at max distance).

As far as i am concerned it works just as intended, and really makes life as a ranged class more enjoyable.

So, thanks again Praxonius for making this mod in response to my request in the forums. :)
Charlie Cyprus 3. apr. 2013 kl. 1:32
What command or code did you change? I tested my vanilla game and I could see enemies at the corners of the screen just fine.
Worst 2. apr. 2013 kl. 22:35
Should make my life as an Outlander much better.
Zasso 2. apr. 2013 kl. 20:10
i think it's monsters themselves that actually show up farther away now instead of right up close sometimes
Notnerb 2. apr. 2013 kl. 19:54
so is this kinda like that camera zoom out mod?
