Clippy was invented by programmers to upset non-programmers. It was the most effective program ever written. If the one trying to cure cancer was that well designed then we'd be up to a 92% survival rate instead of the current 50%. But be honest, you'd much rather people were inventing annoying paperclips than curing cancer, wouldn't you?
