I've done everything I can to make this work and for me it doesn't, when people type in chat it still pops up on my screen, I've unbinded U and Y and still it's not working, am I doing something wrong?

I just tested it, it does work. It only hides what you see on your screen, not what others see. Workshop addons are client side only, meaning each person on a server has to be subscribed to a particular addon for it to "work" for them too.
