On the lower level there's a room with a large door and across from the door are some pedestals. Put all the holocrons on the pedestals, and the door will open.

Is there anything specific you can do by finding all of the Holocrons? As in, do they unlock anything, or are they just to find for sake of a hunt? Just wondering.

Quite a few, though I admit I haven't counted them. They're all over the map though, and I'm confident there are at least 32 spawn points (most likely quite a few more).
