Jesus, this stomped more than it should have. I "solved" it fairly fast, but for some reason I struggled to properly connect the portals when actually executing it. Pretty great chamber.

Don't think it's "advanced". It is worse than the original. This map isn't humorous.

Semi-blindrun (at least 4 years since I've played, took a break starting from late 2019)

One of my favorites of the series, to be honest - even if I like “advanced” maps anyway, being experienced. Like the original, the fact that you can’t jump is a little confusing, especially for newcomers, but I also understand that might have been the only way to make the main mechanic work.

I do like that this was a bonus chamber though as opposed to being part of the main series - the physics are a little wonky with this concept to begin with, and they become even more so as the tactics required in this chamber are harder to execute. Specifically, I noticed I began strafing for no apparent reason, which is obviously not desired in a map like this. (Although it really comes in handy if you want to skip over half the chamber as I did near the start :P I challenged myself to find the proper solution though.)

@HadronFive If you miss it you can just shoot downwards onto the floor to go through the portals back and forth, so you have infitly many tries

Especially the third and final one of the sequence is a bit hard to hit, I often shot the glass :D
I'm thinking how you can give players more time while avoiding possible skips. Maybe make the floor panel in Room 2 smaller and move it more to the entry side of the map, so that it can't be hit in the initial fling, but the glass can be 1 block lower so there is more time to reach the final panel.

I did it! I'm honestly surprised I was able to complete a map labeled "Advanced" but I think playing the other maps, and specifically the original "Air Traffic" helped me come to an answer pretty quickly. The long fling segment towards the end is very satisfying. It's very hard to get angled panels to work in a consistent manner, so I respect the design. :p2cube:

Oh wo-o-o-o-o-o-ow, that final fling sequence? This kind of stuff is what Portal: Prelude should've had more of. I like that mod, but its puzzles are often not that puzzling, it's sometimes *just* reflexes, and that feels a little odd in a puzzle game.

This is both a reflex map and a thinking map. This final sequence does require you to be pretty quick and precise with midair shots, but it's also a legit puzzle, and a beautiful one. I thought I'd be hard to surprise after playing through the rest of the pack... no, this final bit got me and had me thinking for quite a while. Excellent, excellent work!!

This was fun. Not too hard having played the rest of the maps in the collection. In fact, the entire collection is awesome and taught me several things about how portals can be used that I didn't know before. Everyone who plays Portal should play through this collection. Well done! :steamhappy:

It might have been that I didn't press a single button on my keyboard as I was going through the portals and doing the moves required to get myself up to where I needed to be. That's a tip I'd give to anybody who finds actually landing the portals right difficult.

Came back 2 years later to say that I don't know if it was just me, or if this map is actually easier to execute than the original. I found the original to be really frustrating with its execution, I knew what to do (or I thought I did, and I was proven right) but spent over 10 minutes just going in and out of portals trying to get it to work right. This time literally the first try what I did the last time I got it right. I was reluctant to play this map because of that, but was actually way easier than I thought it was. Obivously the solution itself is more obscure and difficult and takes more brain power, but I just thought this map was easier to actually execute than the original..

Great puzzle. I played this a year ago; comment then: "Thumbs up for the design, but not to my personal taste." I've had a bit of practice at no element maps since then, so another thumbs up as I enjoyed working it out, as before, but also doing it this time :D

Nice map! A little tricky to execute. Hint 1: you will need to place 2 portals in chamber 1 through the grate in chamber 2, all part of the same fling. Hint 2: place a portal as close to the grate dividing the 2 chambers as possible, to maximize the time for sending the second portal through the grate.

Alright, that wasn't so bad, I kept thinking i was in a spot, then i tried something and it worked. Didn't use the angled panel over the goo though, not sure what it could have bin for, but oh well, I got out, and that's what count's right?...Right?!...ehhh what do you know.
Visibility was good, noting was hidden or blocked that was important, so that helped me come to the solution faster. Overall it was a pretty good map, well lit, not to bright either; the solution was good as well. While simple and minimal in steps, it wasn't just staring you in the face, it required some thinking, and I enjoyed it. Good job. 8/10

I finally solved it the intended way. Much more interesting. I would suggest that you replace the grid opposite the other room and the space under it with a normal black wall thus reducing the width of the pit floor. That would prevent my exploit of placing a portal on the pit floor while flinging up the first time.

This was much easier than the original. Simply turn while in the air and place a portal on the floor of the pit. Then place a portal on the angled panel to the exit. Walk through, go up stairs, drop from the top and fling to the exit. Am I missing something?
