WTF Apatity?! Okay, I don't know what this small northern city is so famous for, but it's nice to see your hometown here)

I made a port for 3.12. Let me know if you have any issues as well.
ontoclasm 26 jun 2022 om 20:31
I made a port of this mod that converts the name lists to 3.4's new format. Please let me know if that's not okay and I'll take it down.
𝓒𝔂𝓹𝓱𝓮𝓻 4 jun 2022 om 11:13
any chance this includes names for ships added with NSC?
Shiro I~ 30 mei 2022 om 4:32
For some namelists it seems that changing %O% to $O$ fixes the name bug
MarsJenkar 28 mei 2022 om 7:18
The format for my new sequential battle fleet format, for example, was to assign the variable [namelistID]_BATTLEFLEETxx_SEQ2, and in the localisation file, the entry was:

[namelistID]_BATTLEFLEETxx_SEQ2:0 "Battle Fleet $CC$"

I tried to add the variable directly to the name list without success. Even changing the sequence variable from the original format (%CC%) to the new format ($CC$) didn't work until I used the localisation file the way the current name list does.
MarsJenkar 28 mei 2022 om 7:18
So I did some experimentation with my own name list (for a mod that is private), and I suspect the reason the change was made was to make localisation simpler, since the default name lists now all contain variables that point to entries in the game's current localisation files. Sequential names were the most affected, since they apparently NEED the localisation file entries to work properly now. Basically I had to assign them a variable instead of an actual name--the variable pointing to your mod's localisation files.

Wooord. You'd think devs would let modders know about that *shakes fist at sky*. Thanks @Porkenstein and @NuclearPies
NuclearPies 19 mei 2022 om 13:59
3.4 changed the format of name lists and as far as I know there's no information out there about how we can make our own with this new format... bruh moment
Porkenstein 17 mei 2022 om 17:14
@crimson.dolarhyde, @funny rat man said he was going to try in the star name lists mod.
crimson.dolarhyde 16 mei 2022 om 22:19
I'm seeing %0% show up as the name for defensive armies - I know the mod author has likely moved on at this point, but, does anyone have thoughts on a fix for a game in progress?
Porkenstein 16 mei 2022 om 22:13
I guess 3.4 changed how namelists work? Such a shame.
H.E. Pennypacker 12 mei 2022 om 21:59
@Boisegangpc I'm getting issues with this and the star list mod from the same author...But I'm getting errors like: "[23:55:55][namelist.cpp:121]: Sequential name %O% (name) doesn't end with a format suffix!"

What a shame. These were some of the best name lists out there and fit my needs perfectly.
Boisegangpc 12 mei 2022 om 19:01
Is anyone else getting errors like planets being named [ROOT.GetName]? I'm going through my name lists and I think at least one is broken, and I'm trying to figure out if it's this one.
Arkay 12 jan 2022 om 5:24
I just came across this mod and wanted to thank you for it. I haven't seen a lot of vanilla-like namelists going around and I'm eager to test it out ingame!
Comrade Tinfect 23 dec 2021 om 14:01
Mod's busted?
shadowtheimpure 11 dec 2021 om 14:50
@Ruggedgolem Thankfully, Paradox hasn't changed anything related to the code for namelists. As such, this mod is still fully compatible and will be until such time as they mess with that code.
xika 2 nov 2021 om 20:50
@Ruggedgolem

Not everything needs regular updates. This mod works just fine with the current version of the game.
Ruggedgolem 28 sep 2021 om 5:54
I'm pretty certain this mod is abandoned now. Hasn't been updated in 2 years.
Spirit 10 aug 2021 om 19:11
i hope you update it with lithoid and necroid name lists (btw are army names included ?)
jcamden 6 aug 2021 om 19:42
Unfortunately, it seems that it is not achievement compatible.
Pitlos Tails 11 mrt 2021 om 1:23
is this achivement compatiable
LykosNychi 8 jan 2021 om 20:32
I swear there used to be a Homeworld based namelist here.. Is it gone?
zambanotto 29 dec 2020 om 10:13
pretty ridicoulus that a mod like this isn't achievement compatible, only paradox make this bullshits
nwise2446 6 okt 2020 om 14:04
Is anyone getting a crash from this mod?
Misha 23 sep 2020 om 21:50
2.7? 🙏
Hong Meiling 27 aug 2020 om 20:22
@yooks Those are ship classes that are added with the NSC2 mod which is already said to be compatible. There's no harm to keep them there.
Mother 13 aug 2020 om 18:21
This mod produces the following errors:

[02:20:47][namelist.cpp:576]: Error: Failed Reading Ship Names!
Reason: Invalid Ship Size:Flagship
common/name_lists/just-name-lists_human5.txt(42)
[02:20:47][namelist.cpp:576]: Error: Failed Reading Ship Names!
Reason: Invalid Ship Size:Carrier
common/name_lists/just-name-lists_humanoid2.txt(19)
[02:20:47][namelist.cpp:576]: Error: Failed Reading Ship Names!
Reason: Invalid Ship Size:Dreadnought
common/name_lists/just-name-lists_humanoid2.txt(23)
[02:20:47][namelist.cpp:576]: Error: Failed Reading Ship Names!
Reason: Invalid Ship Size:Flagship
common/name_lists/just-name-lists_humanoid2.txt(35)

I am not familiar with these ship classes, are they suppose to be introduced by another mod? If so I would suggest adding mod dependency notes. In any case I think it would be best to remove these entries if they are non-functional.

@BrokenMidnight The way I learned was to take namelists that others had created and poke through them on my own. Learn the way name lists are written. There are also lots of resources for them, and a good place to start would be to get on the Discord for the Stellaris Modding Den, they're always accepting new members. There's also a tool, though a little out of date, that makes a name list for you, though it can be finicky at times. Here, lemme get you links to both.

Ive been trying to make my own namelist but I cant find anything that helps me get started. youd think a game as popular as this would have actual helpful tutorials but everyone just beats around the bush
Ruggedgolem 7 aug 2020 om 0:21
Does this work for 2.7?
XENOPHILIAC 28 jul 2020 om 21:52
Love this mod. Always download it when I play!

Name lists for a hive mind would be sick!
Grimmas 9 apr 2020 om 14:07
Nice mod! Would be great if you can add explanations about the JNL Human 8 to 14 lists to the mod description.

A list for lithoids would be nice too.
The Arch Dragon 3 apr 2020 om 4:48
There is no name set for juggernauts but I think generic names will be used for them.
Rekas 27 mrt 2020 om 22:41
Very much +, if you can find it in your heart, could you add one for a more traditional Christian set, I would be in your debt.
TroubledWaters 24 mrt 2020 om 20:55
Does this work in Federations with the Juggernauts?
Nemoy 20 mrt 2020 om 12:27
Yo, apparently you're lacking a mod descriptor file.
Fallsondoor 30 dec 2019 om 16:32
I don't see why they wouldn't work, might be an issue when they come out with the diplomatic update and add Juggernauts
EdFromEarth  [auteur] 24 okt 2019 om 17:34
@All As far as I know, these should still work... Sorry to say I don't have much time these days to keep up with updates though.
Jacob 19 okt 2019 om 20:17
please update:)
Bioness 19 okt 2019 om 20:14
The JNL Fungoid 1 list only gives the name "Consciousness" for the leaders. Not sure why that is because the other lists work.
Kepos 18 okt 2019 om 11:27
Is there an updated planned for 2.4?
EdFromEarth  [auteur] 10 okt 2019 om 15:51
@Doctor Red It is not, unfortunately.

@Texas Toast Those lists are a few assortments of names from specific real world cultures that I intended to use for additional mods. I may come back to them in the future, but for now they are basically alternate UNE name lists.
Senator Red 7 okt 2019 om 21:14
is this mod achievement compatible?
Sunvaulter82 13 sep 2019 om 15:48
Love this mod, it's one of the top "mandatory mods" for me. But i'm curious what the themes/inspiration are for the Human 8-14 lists as they don't seem to be mentioned in the description (yet).
EdFromEarth  [auteur] 2 jul 2019 om 17:54
Thanks for that tip! I will make the change. :)
r.oaooammoa 2 jul 2019 om 17:10
Hey, that's a nice mod, i have been bored with standard name lists for a while now so it really helps. But there is something that bothers my inner perfectionist :) Don't know if anybody have already told you that but in fleet names in JNL Human 2 "Kosmoflot" should go before the actual name of the fleet and not after it. Hope you'll change this in the next update. Thanks. :3
EdFromEarth  [auteur] 6 jun 2019 om 3:45
Nice catch. Thanks! I'll incorporate the fix the next time I can push out updates for my mods.
cinereoux 6 jun 2019 om 3:27
Hey, great mod, adds a lot of flavour and variety to the game. I might have noticed a super minor typo, though? In JNL Humanoid 6, where all the fleet names are synonyms of bright/etc., "lambent" (I assume that's what you meant) is misspelled as "lambet". Thanks for the mod!
Erusaert 5 mei 2019 om 5:32
All good. Thank you for the swift response. :deathking:
