Hey how do I configure it? I know I have to input the configuration text somewhere and change it but where do I put it in? is it a menu that the crossbow has?

@Hambo this is something I think is definitely worth adding, but I don't currently have the space to re-install the ark modding toolkit. It's really heavy on resources. I'm waiting until I have a new machine to get back into modding. In the meantime, all files are available in my github repo for anyone to modify them as they see fit. I will try to make it configurable in the future.

Can we get a version with normal durability? If I had to maintain it It'd feel more part of the game and less like a god tool. It's so much fun in caves!

Is there anyway to have the controller's crouch button also detach?
Currently keyboard crouch button works but controller's default does not

Could you maybe double the range on this thing? There are certain area's that point out that the reel distance of this grappling hook truly is pathetic. (Central area of Ragnarok with all the crazy pillar formations and deep river valleys.) That or some sort of indication of when the grapple is in range would be super nice.

Combined with the wingsuit, I feel like Batman with this mod! I love it! Any chance you could make it also work with ziplines so I don't have to carry 2 crossbows? Crossbows plus the wingsuit and zipline harness starts adding up in weight, and I'm always looking to trim the weight on my deployment gear.

So thios has clearly proven its worth as the one time this mod fell off the mod list for the server my friend hosts, we immediately added it back in.
Still, could you do a zipline mod to make that better too, or is there not really anything you can do to increase the length of that?
Fun fact, the distance a zipline anchor will fly is only measured horizontally, not vertically, so you can zip down twice as far as you can zip along when at the range limit

yeah we accounted for that, but it still seems to lock shorter than what the structure render distance is (not natural world as that renders further away) but yeah, both the grapple and the zipline feel like they should be able to fly much further

@Vokun_Vulon: I don't know if there's a limit shorter than this, but I imagine that the hard-limit is render-distance. I honestly have not tried. But due to how I make sure that you don't encounter "the grapple glitch", if you don't increase the grapple speed accordingly, you could be waiting a long time before the grapple hits anything or "misses".

2 questions...
1. What is the highest setting for the range of the grapple? It got to a point on our server that no matter how much more we increase it, the max distance stayed the same
2. Can you make "The Last Zipline"? It would be great to have a zipline mod that actually let us cover some decent distances, the default one feels too short

If you mean detatch from surfaces, crouch, or reel in completely and press space to vault.

Yes. We use it on our Aberration cluster.

Does this work on Aberation?

From what I can tell, if this is the same jerkyness that y'all are talking about, the jerk is to reset your velocity so that you don't take fall damage when you are going down.

@Darbbo Ah! Right now that's pretty much how the game is coded. It goes a little better if the DropSpeed value is below 1, actually (e.g. 0.7). Technically it still "jerks", but it jerks in shorter distances, so it becomes completely unnoticeable, at the expense of going down slower. I'm not sure I'll be able to change the jerkiness otherwise, but it's worth looking into. Thanks for clearing it up for me!

@Lao KilljackTV means that when you hold R click going down is like a spaz out effect "jerky as hell" lol great mod though, has pulled me out of so many jams!

@KilljackTv - I'm not sure what you mean. I assume you're talking about using right-click to lower yourself? How fast you go down is configurable in your GameUserSettings.ini file (DropSpeed)

@lao Hey is there a fix for the going down with the grappleing

I would be happy with an extended range zipline. HOpefully that becomes a thing once the dev kit drops.

@Jim712: Unfortunately not until the new dev kit gets released. Rumor has it that it's expected sometime in January. I'm sure a handful of unbreaking picks will appear when that happens.

It only appears to be an issue with some stack mods. Here is what I added to my game.ini to make the crafting cost the same as it would cost to make a crossbow and 10 vanilla grapple hooks.
