(If you are interested in why it is impossible, that is because the pathfinding system in the game can not work with different height values. From the villagers' (and animals') point of view, the world is a flat 2D plane)
i was considering trying out modding few weeks ago, i honestly couldnt understand it.
If there are problems with the building that you haven't seen before, please report in detail :-)
(The issue you encountered might be caused sometimes when a game is saved during bridge construction and then loaded back up, because of the way such values as building height are being handled by this game. The height mechanic for the bridges was invented and generously shared by dominuskevin, and I don't know enough about it to know if the issue can be fixed. Fortunately, I doesn't happen often :-)
It was across a rather deep gorge, so maybe that was the issue. It's a great mod by the way. I've used it in other places since my post without encountering the problem. So... gremlins maybe.
Let me take the opportunity to thank you for your mod work. Well done.
LtDutchman - Sorry for my belated answer. I'm not planning on making a wider version of the bridge, because arranging the models is a lot of work. Might the base game pavement provide a solution to your building situation?
I update mods after game patches that do or could cause issues, but not just for the version number, so to not load players with dozens of unneccessary update downloads.
Any mod you find that has a yellow ( ! ), but has been updated in the last half year, is most likely good to use unless otherwise reported in the comments. Stay cautious with red ( ! )
And should you find any issues with the mod, please report - thanks! :)
If you are trying to make stone walkways with corners and intersections, I think the payvement is the perfect tool to achieve that an land, and for more possibilities to build structures at water height, I highly recommend Sir Foxy's fantastic mod "Lake Village" featuring stone walkways pieces https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1413535226
I was fooling around and discovered this might not be the best idea at the moment. Looks cool and all but...
So, I built the pavement then destroyed the piece where I placed the starter section. The problem came when I destroyed the bridge and tried to replace the pavement.
If you want to try it I suggest using the terraform tool to destroy the mound then lift it back up. Better if you can plan ahead and don't build the pavement in that section at all. It wouldn't let me replace the pavement or terraform in and way what so ever. Stuck with it where it is.
I can raise and lower the groud and build and destroy this bridge all day long. I'm certain the problem is with the way the pavement system raises the ground.
Employing the features of dominuskevin's bridge engineering, the stone bridge can now be built at any height.
Build the bridge start first, then all following middle and end parts will be of the same height. Build one bridge completely to the end before you put another bridge start.

For a nice bridge to be built over your canyon, there would be bridge parts needed that are at the right height. Sadly, there isn't yet a function where you can increase or lower the building height when placing a building, so that there would need to be an extra building (with its own button in the menu and so on) for each desired height.
I was, however, planning to look into this possibility and to make maybe two more heights, each about 3 meters higher
The question is, will using this stone bridge work for that situation? I've spent several hours making a canyon in one of my [very] old saves, then I found out that the bridges won't even connect the two lands at the top of the cliffs, but kept wanting to be placed at the bottom (my people can't get to the bottom of the cliffs because it's so steep).
If it doesn't - which I can understand - then don't sweat it. It was a part of a much older save anyways. If it could work, though, I would likely give it another go :)
By the way, everybody who likes bridges and hasn't yet found the fantastic maps by Norway Rules, be sure to check them out

Info:
Start/end part costs 60 stone and covers 6 squares
Middle part costs 40 stone and spans 4 squares
It is 4 squares wide and designed to fit a 2 squares wide street
The bridge can be built over water as well as over land, the first row of the start/end bit (where the stairs are) must be on land.
No T-section or cross pieces, because that would be stupid for a stone bridge.
Construction may look a little bit wonky sometimes, that can't be helped because I have only one model for the villagers to walk on, sorry about that.
Also, please try not to put the bridge directly alongside a building or street, because on one side the original model sticks out (it's invisible) and will cause collission problems. If you leave 2 squares free on either side, all will be fine.
As for any other iddsues you may find, please report them to me, thanks :)
