I can't seem to use ANY mods that have vikings, norwegians, celts, danes, etc. Everytime I download these civs, and try to turn them on, I am told that I am missing this or that. How can I get this worked out? I have downloaded and paid for the Korean mod, Wonders mod, scrambled nations, etc. but no matter what I do, I am still unable to use ANY nordic civilization. Can someone tell me what is going on?

Yes Norway was a part of denmark but only for a few years. Magnus the good (king of Norway 1035-1047 and king in demark 1040-1047) chased them out off the country and became king in Denmark after Knut the great's death. This was not in the Viking Age. the viking age ended in 1030 when norway became christian. In the end of the 1300's Norway, Denmark and Sweden joined in the Kalmar union. Denmark have never invaded Norway.
D 10. aug. 2014 kl. 11:32
@ELITE Norway wasnt a part of Denmark under the viking period but it was in the 1400 hundreds i think
Durin 6. aug. 2014 kl. 1:06
i havent. but stil the time spand of this gam span longer then the viking period!
Lobo 4. aug. 2014 kl. 11:06
@resolha have you completely forgotten Norway was part of Denmark in the viking period?!
Durin 4. aug. 2014 kl. 4:56
it dont work.... forslag skold klassen?? eller jegrer (++paratroopers++)
resolha 19. juni 2014 kl. 7:34
Norway without a viking warrior? and no longboat? While the old Norwegian vikings dared to navigate out on open ocean the Danes never did, they followed the coast-line only.

Yeah kjøle mod mann!
pedersilver5 31. dec. 2013 kl. 12:29
the Last update 12/24/2013 seems to have erased the possibility to select the Norway mod. While this shows me subscribed it is not selectable from the list of civilizations to play anymore. I have Harald Fairhair in my modded saves but cannot find it on the list of mods anymore.

One problem: My Danish longboats appear as spearmen....yes, spearmen. I hve G&K, Denmark, and BNW. Do I require another mod for this?
Splinter 12. juli 2013 kl. 12:47
YES

Sid Meyer made Sweden and Denmark, but completely forgot Norway! thank you!

Thank you soo much for making this! It makes me sad that Norway was not included in the game, but you fixed that, so thank you once again!
Praylak 24. maj 2013 kl. 12:45
This mod is really a 2 in1 bonus. First it corrects the stupidness of Denmark having Finn Ski infantry, and replaces it with the longboat. To me this is a huge improvement over the lameness of vanilla. And second of course, we get awesome Norway in the game! Its awesome, thank you.

Curse These Metal Hands 18. maj 2013 kl. 5:53
it bothers me that this civ wasn't in vanilla
the Unusual Gamer 15. maj 2013 kl. 5:00
I can't seem to send a message to your profile. :(

I just noticed in your description that you're giving people the opportunity to rewrite the Civilopedia entries for your mod. I'm interested in taking up the challenge, I have expreience in typing up quality entries for other civs and wonders for mods.
Sleepy 18. mar. 2013 kl. 12:38
Stupid me, didn't know I had to launch the game via the mods menu, tried to start it from the main menu... Everything works now. Mod works great!
Sleepy 17. mar. 2013 kl. 10:53
I can't get it to work. I have G+K and Denmark installed and selected in CIV5. Also selected Norway Civ in the MODs menu, but still I can't find Norway as a civ when i start a new game...
Any ideas?

Steinar el canari potato, that's most likely because Harald Fairhair was the first king of Norway.

@murp662 Oh I see. I didn't know that about Bergen. Well, I'm pretty sure I put Bergen in there.

@kribreant Gods and Kings is the expansion pack. You can only use this mod if you own the expansion pack and you haven't deactivated it in-game.

@khoodie No, sorry. It needs quite a bit of work to make it work without G&K and Denmark DLC and I don't think I'm going to convert it. If you know a bit about Civ Modding you should feel free to use my mod as a starting point to make your own Norway mod for vanilla.
Aw Frick Stormcloak 20. jan. 2013 kl. 21:27
Are mods backwards compatible to work with vanillia?
kribreant 19. jan. 2013 kl. 6:12
What God and kings i don`t understand how do i make it work?
Fjallekisen 19. jan. 2013 kl. 1:06
I just find it funny that the city of Bergen yet hasn't appeared in my game, even after small towns like Skien and Drammen. Plus, people from Bergen always state: I am not from Norway, I am from Bergen!
Trystero49  [ophavsmand] 18. jan. 2013 kl. 19:56
@murp662 What do you mean?
Fjallekisen 18. jan. 2013 kl. 16:44
It's finally proven. Bergen isn't a part of Norway.
Seadog 17. jan. 2013 kl. 12:31
Great mod, great country. Being of Norwegian descent, and hearing all the great things about Norway's culture, I've always wanted to visit, or maybe even live there.
EliteMsl 13. jan. 2013 kl. 7:49
great ! i wanted this a long time ago

Finally we got our own Civ (Alt for Norge :)
humbler 10. jan. 2013 kl. 7:26
You know what would be badass? if we could get a leader screen like with the vanilla leaders, with dialogue and everything, plus if they somehow got the narrator to narrate the leader "intro" or whatever
fufie 7. jan. 2013 kl. 9:27
Comments here didn't allow longer replies so I put a short summary of how the civ felt over at civfanatics: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=483887
Yrjarik 4. jan. 2013 kl. 14:58
From norway here too. Looks like a nice mod, bringing the last scandinavian brother/sister to the game, great :)
Trystero49  [ophavsmand] 4. jan. 2013 kl. 12:35
@sirfufie

It could be a bug. I'll take a look at the code again. Also, I'm glad you like the idea of culture = stronger military. Also, you are right, national wonders do not count.

As for disposable units...that's a good point. I didn't think of that. I wonder if there is something I can do about that.

Thanks for the feedback.
fufie 4. jan. 2013 kl. 10:36
Possible bug: Have Oslo with barracks, armory, amphitheatre (culture), monument (culture), shrine (faith), stavkirke (faith), oracle (wonder). Which should probably be 55 xp but I only get 50 xp for new units. I assume national wonders don't count (also have NC).
fufie 4. jan. 2013 kl. 8:51
@trystero49 I like the idea of culture giving more well-rounded and skillful soldiers, and maybe faith gives little holy warriors that will hang in there a bit longer. Currently in midgame standard emperor oval pangea map (10civ 16 cs) with a wider civ (liberty+honor). Does not feel OP yet (emperor+ have few wonders early - only grabbed oracle), and it feels like a late-bloomer domination civ. Possibly kicking ass at industrial age and later when bonuses are good.

Food for thought: The usual domination game will focus on upgrading units and keeping them alive to keep xp. The faith/culture +xp bonus will usually favor new units as you would have new culture+faith buildings and more xp. This might lead to more reckless use of existing/old units. More "disposable" troops is pretty far from the norwegian sentiment the last five centuries. Every loss at war for modern Norway feels massive.
SaproPhychs Derpy 4. jan. 2013 kl. 7:39
i'm from Norway so I really got excited when I saw this mod and it is awesome :D
Trystero49  [ophavsmand] 4. jan. 2013 kl. 5:32
@sirfufie
I tried designing Norway so that they could play a tall culture/faith empire with a strong military. UA does indeed stack with barracks, so with Monument, Shrine, Ampitheatre, and Stave Church with a Barracks (which is totally feasible in the classical era) your units will be getting +35 XP, which is a pretty signficant edge. With all three military training buildings, all four culture buildings, both faith buildings and Bradenburg Gate Wonder, you can train units with 95XP, which is a great payoff for investing in culture/faith.

@siggbein
If XP from wonders is too gamebreaking I may change it, but for the time being I still think this needs testing.

I also should mention that "faith buildings" includes buildings you buy with Faith. So a having a cathedral and a padoga in your city will give you +10 XP.
