@Stormo Can agree. Iridar's Five Stage Weapon Overhaul doesn't work due to its reliance on the Coilgun and Laser weapon mods, and those two mods causes even more issues. So yeah uninstall Five stage.

For the people unable to upgrade the custom models from the conventional tier, meaning they do not get the magnetic or plasma variants, are you using the Long War Laser Pack or Iridar's Five Stage Weapon Overhaul? Because I had the same problem, so I tried disabling those, and that did it for me. Check if maybe this isn't the cause for you too. It makes sense that messing with the weapon tech levels will bork the mod.

Grab the weapon skin replacer mod, i forgot the name but there's also a mod that hides items you manually select so you'd hide all the guns from here but you can still use them with the skin replacer

Could someone please tell me// help me how this is supposed to work in LOWTC? ive just researched MAG weapons and i dont get the ability to upgrade weapons only build 1 off weapons like the shard gun or mag riffle etc

I have always loved this mod, so Kudos. I am currently playing LOWTC and it seems to be working just fine, EXCEPT that there is only one upgrade slot per weapon .... Anyone can help ??

My recommendation would be to go into the config file for each pistol you want to remove, look for "CVWPdata_T1_StartingItem" and "CVWPdata_T1_CanBeBuilt" and set all occurences of values to "false" in all the files for items you want to hide.

What I'd suggest is disable all the pistols in the mod. A lot of them exist as individual mods as well from other creators. Some also updated more recently.

my problem solved.crash log mention out of virtual memory .after extending virtual memory to 24000mb~30000mb the game stop crashing.maybe the mod asset is too huge.hope this can help @Yeetson

@kern You can do that, even if it's a little bit annoying to do.

You have to open each weapon's .ini file, and replace the line "StartingItem = true" with false. That will make it so the weapons do not appear in your weapons list, but still allow you to use them as skins with XSkin. Keep in mind that you need to do it both for XCOM and the other Factions, as they can provide you with the base gun whenever you unlock one of their units.

It'll also only work with a new campaign, as this will only stop the guns from being added to your Arsenal, but not remove any already added by any other means.

I highly suggest using Notepad++ for this, as it allows you to mass edit files in one go, saving a ton of time.

Keep in mind that this has not being extensively tested past Gatecrasher, so the guns can still possibly appear all of a sudden under certain conditions/events.

Snoup Sniddly, with XSkin you'd have to do them one by one. Doable but probably not what you're looking for. If you want to flat out replace any weapon you subscribe to these two mods:
- [WOTC] WSR Weapon Skin Replacer - Core
- [WOTC] WSR Weapon Skin Replacer - Configuration

Then navigate to the Configuration mod's Config folder (YourSteamFolder\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\1709345052\Config), open XComWeaponSkinReplacer.ini
and add the following line to the bottom of the file:

+WEAPON_REPLACEMENT=(ACCEPTOR_TEMPLATE=AssaultRifle_CV, DONOR_TEMPLATE=MD_WOTC_MW4_ASR_G36_STD_XCOM_T1, COPY_DONOR_ATTACHMENTS=true)

This is an example where base game Assault Rifle is replaced with a G36 from CoD 2019 Weapon Pack.
Find the name of a template of the weapon you want and put it instead of the "MD_WOTC_MW4_ASR_G36_STD_XCOM_T1". You'll find it in a modd-added weapon's .ini file.

Is there any way to just flat out permanently replace any given weapon. Like all 'Assault Rifle's with Honeybadgers or whatever.

The only way to do that is by manually 'creating' all these extra skins with Xskin, right?

Also @kern, you can use Iridar's Weapon Hider mod I believe.

Even in regular wotc (without either long war or covert infiltration) this mod seems to struggle with upgrades. I can upgrade the handguns and some of the assault rifles but no matter what i research or do with proving grounds, absolutely none of the rifles or heavy weapons will upgrade past the base tier. Does anyone know if this is being broken by proving grounds overhaul like a bunch of other weapon mods are, or is this problem persisting for you guys even without that mod?

Question, this mod worked fine for a bit, but after adding a number of additional mods, many of them being weapon packs, the resistance weapons almost unanimously are plagued with a vantablack texture consuming most of the gun. Is there a known issue or confilct with another mod that could be causing this? Before adding additional mods, the weapons could be fully colored and camoed. Thx in advance!

How to remove Tier2 and Tier3 weapons? I am using 'Non infinite construction' mod. So I have to build each of every weapons and armors and with this mod I see terrible terrible long~ long~ list to build:steamsad:. Plz teach me how to remove Tier2 and Tier3 weapons.
