 Clever use of vantage point ; I think this is what a medium-difficulty map should strive to be.

My only qualm would be that the companion cube room feels a bit big and empty; don't know if that was done to avoid an unintended solution.

Got SUPERHOT vibes from that post-chamber scene .

Great map!

I like those maps in which you have to work backwards to return to where you started ^^
I agree with the difficulty description; something to think about but not too hard.
Thanks for creating and polishing

Awesome puzzle and great hammer work. This is story level map. It's got perfect difficulty and a VERY satisfying solution hint: observe heights very carefully, you can jump into the funnel instead of always being in it

Now that's what I call a cool test! Kudos to both of you!

Great one!

Very pretty and smart puzzle! Everything was laid out nicely so the puzzle direction was clear; each step seemed to lead into the next smoothly. The fact that the companion cube sings is a bit cruel, but luckily it never got a chance to say it loved me.

Fantastic work!
The clever puzzle + the Hammer design => This map is perfect ! :steamhappy:
That was a lot of fun, thank you!

Excellent map. Getting the second cube took some exploring, then everything came together. Thanks for your work.

Love it, had me stumped for a few tries. Keep em coming!

I've completed the test chamber and I have to say, I'm very impressed with how hard the difficulty was and how clever you made it. Plus I love the little Cave dialogue you made in the description and the secret you put in the end for anyone who cheated.
vallibus 1 JUN 2019 a las 15:37
Very, very nice. And of course, after viewing the walkthrough, I discovered I didn't solve it the intended way. I obtained the second cube a different way. The intended way is much better and simpler, but I just didn't see it. I'm always learning something from your chambers. Can a cactus be "pleasantly prickly?"

@Leomievs Thanks! :) Glad you think we make a good team - you're gonna love Desolation.
Leo 18 ENE 2019 a las 5:29
Don't know which was better: the clever and elegant puzzle, or the fantastic Hammer work? You two make a very good team.

:steamhappy:Awesome puzzle! Solved in four day with logical solution on the end. How many Easter Eggs hidden in this chamber? Found scary room with Stract behind window:))))))Thank you for creating this!:steamhappy::steamhappy:
Stract  [autor] 11 NOV 2018 a las 13:13
@wildgoosespeeder Not sure what you mean there. Exposed white surfaces tend to be portalable, and if they aren't then there's always one next to it that is.
wildgoosespeeder 11 NOV 2018 a las 12:09
I prefer Demon Arison's PeTI over your Hammer version. It was harder to tell in his version what surfaces were viable for portals, especially after the regular cube is obtained, making me overthink things and giving up.

@Ambivalent Thanks! :D

@Magnum You should check out some of my other maps on my workshop. The "endings" in each one may or may not be leading to something eventually ;) Stay tuned

This one was beautiful on top of being a great puzzle and ending in a scary way. Want more :D

SuðuSigfús 12 ENE 2018 a las 0:34
Nice one, love these types of maps where there is not too much stuff in it with but still challenging. Took me 30-60 minutes to solve this, I'll be checking out more from you guys. Thanks.
anpy 4 ENE 2018 a las 12:10
That has to be the best hammer map I've played so far. Details, lighting, everything was perfect. Amazing job! Thumbs up and favorite :)
Demon Arisen  [autor] 31 DIC 2017 a las 8:28
@BIGGER JOHN Thanks! Don't worry, this is a tricky test, so no reflection on your mental capacity.
BIGGER JOHN 31 DIC 2017 a las 8:07
made me feel helplessly retarded. which, of course, i assure you is side effect of a good map
Dr. Strangelove 23 NOV 2017 a las 12:29
Map looks very good, puzzle looks simple at first with so few elements, yet turns out to be more complicated than expected. Well done!
racknae 14 OCT 2017 a las 19:33
Great puzzle. Getting caught on level geometry was a little bit frustrating at times, but it's very clever. Definitely had to pause and think at points. Ending was interesting too.
nock 4 OCT 2017 a las 7:08
Stract - Great visuals and I loved the ending.
Demon - Sorry i forgot the puzzle for the majority of the map :(

Why bother? It doesn't eliminate anything that you have to do, just where you do it from.
Demon Arisen  [autor] 23 SEP 2017 a las 12:36
Gosh no I'd never intend standing on a tiny ledge like that :P Don't worry, I'm sure Stract'll fix it!
dven1 23 SEP 2017 a las 12:30
Sorry, it just seemed the easiest way to go. To be honest I thought it was intended.
Demon Arisen  [autor] 23 SEP 2017 a las 9:49
@Stract May want to fix that with a clip or something :P
Stract  [autor] 23 SEP 2017 a las 8:32
@dven1 You aren't supposed to use those ledges as an actual part of the puzzle :P
dven1 23 SEP 2017 a las 8:19
Oh, that's easy, it's the one just below the obsevation room in the funnel area. You ride up the funnel and hold "Forward" when you get level with it, turn around and shoot the funnel elsewhere quickly. It's just a bit of a short-cut because you can place the cube under the funnel and do what needs doing directly. If you really need a screenshot I can get you one but it's quite apparent.
Demon Arisen  [autor] 23 SEP 2017 a las 7:01
@dven1 Thanks for playing! Glad you figured it out. Any chance you could post a screenshot of the "tiny ledge" in question? I'm not sure it's intended.
dven1 23 SEP 2017 a las 4:03
Never mind, I finally figured it out. Great map, I only had to drop the fizzler out of the funnel room a zillion times before I got things right. Nice easter egg too, I almost soiled myself when that voice hollered at me. Getting on that tiny ledge in the funnel room was a bit tricky but after the hundredth time it became easier. Thanks for your efforts.
dven1 23 SEP 2017 a las 3:26
Okay, I'm stumped. I can get out of the funnel room and even get both cubes wherever I want but *not* with the funnel at my disposal which I assume I need to unlock the exit. Is there a clue to the magic formula?
Stract  [autor] 17 SEP 2017 a las 12:35
@lfairban Oh well. We have warehouses full of the things. Absolutely worthless. I'm happy to get rid of them.
