Version 1.4 Merge Fix after Patch

Baseline food cost of 17th C infantry is 50 food with some unit variation.

This permits 1,000s and 5,000s resources starts to proceed smoothly.

Version 1.3.1c - Reduce 17th C Infantry upgrades

17th C Infantry upgrades reduced from 6 to 3.
17th C Infantry upgrade costs reduced.
17th C Infantry creation costs lifted.

The beginning of a change in cost structure and upgrade structure. This change will reduce military upgrade costs relative to unit creation costs and economy upgrade costs. This will assist timing window attacks but only against inaccurate defence and poorer builds. Also, the economic penalty for a failed timing window attack will be less severe. Nevertheless, higher troop casualties from a failed attack will still lead to tactical and strategic problems, as it should.

Version 1.3.1 - Grant Quasi-18th C upgrade to 17th C only nations

All non-18th C nations now get a quasi-18th C upgrade. It's still called an 18th C upgrade and it costs the standard amount. However, it does not unlock very much for these nations.

Algeria gets from quasi-18th C upgrade;

(a) Access to 18th C diplo units from diplo ONLY IF diplo is enabled.
(b) Access to 18th C grenadierdip unit in the standard barracks. This feature will have to be used VERY carefully. These units still inflate in price so DO NOT set them on infinite production. Order them in batches. Much of the time you will still make other barracks units.
(c) Access to Light Cavalry (not a diplo unit) in stables. Algeria has no shot upgrades in academy so these will remain weaker than other nations' 18th C dragoons. These can be be put on infinite production safely and can be upgraded in the stables.

Turkey gets from quasi-18th C upgrade;

(a) Access to 18th C diplo units from diplo ONLY IF diplo is enabled.
(b) Access to 18th C grenadierdip unit in the standard barracks. This feature will have to be used VERY carefully. These units still inflate in price so DO NOT set them on infinite production. Order them in batches. Most of the time you will still make janissaries.
(c) Access to Light Cavalry (not a diplo unit) in stables. Turkey has shot upgrades in academy so these can match other nations' 18th C dragoons. These can be be put on infinite production safely and can be upgraded in the stables.

Ukraine gets from quasi-18th C upgrade;

(a) Access to 18th C diplo units from diplo ONLY IF diplo is enabled.
(b) Access to 18th C grenadierdip unit in the standard barracks. This feature will have to be used VERY carefully. These units still inflate in price so DO NOT set them on infinite production. Order them in batches. Most of the time you will still make serdiuks.
(c) Access to Light Cavalry (not a diplo unit) in stables. Ukraine has shot upgrades in the academy so these can match other nations' 18th C dragoons. These can be be put on infinite production safely and can be upgraded in the stables.

Scotland gets from quasi-18th C upgrade;

(a) Access to 18th C diplo units from diplo ONLY IF diplo is enabled.
(b) Access to 18th C grenadierdip unit in the standard barracks. This feature will have to be used VERY carefully. These units still inflate in price so DO NOT set them on infinite production. Order them in batches. Most of the time you will still make standard 17th C units.
(c) Access to highlander skirmishers in the castle. Scotland has shot upgrades in academy so these will match other nations' 18th C skirmishers. These can be be put on infinite production safely and can be upgraded in the castle.


HINT: All mercenary units have that golden shield symbol and they all inflate in price so order in batches not by infinite production. Whether the mercenary unit is in the diplo center or in a barracks in the quasi-18th C for these nations, it has the golden shield symbol which is a warning that it is a rather weak and cost-inflating unit.
