According to these sources this is the second war flag of Chinese Soviet Republic that was used by the communists during the period from 1934-1937 and after the dissolution of Chinese Soviet Republic it became a symbol of Chinese communism in RoC. This is the base model flag for the modern flag of People's Republic of China (adopted in 1949).
