Intro
Hi. Are your enemies to over-powered? Are your troops week and ineffective? Do you want to be unbeatable? Then you are on the right track, (Disclaimer, though I cant guarantee that everything that I do will work for you, I can only show you what works for me.)

In this guide I will cover the following:
  • Some basic tools and functions.
  • What you can do before a fight.
  • What you can do while in a fight to prepare for the next one.
  • And some tactics that work for me.

If you have any questions, send me a message and I will try to answer as best I can.
Beginners Tips.
In this section I will go over some tools that are available to the player to make their life easier.

  • Character skill field, empty combat.
  • Keys.
  • Supplies.
  • Healing Shrines.
  • Bag Customization.
  • Character Customization.
Character skill field.
So what is the character skill field, and how can I use it?
Well, the CSF(character skill field) is a field that doesn't have any enemies on it, an "empty" battle field. It enables you to use your characters abilities (i.e. healing) without being attacked, the drawback being you don't generate power for your skills, so you have a very limited amount of actions you can take. The skills you use do stay with you until your next fight. The CFS is accessible through the down arrow icon in the bottom left of your screen as shown below.

How come I can only use one characters skills?
Well, you have to manually select which characters skills you want to use, you do this by selecting their icon in the upper right corner.

Keys.
Keys open locked chests that can be found in dungeons that you visit. You earn keys by defeating enemies, and you can't take the keys with you when you leave the dungeon. The number of keys that you have are displayed in the top right corner under the character icons.

Supplies.
Supplies are really important early in the game, they can heal and revive downed troops for free, though you only have three. Supplies can also open locked chests, though that is of secondary importance. To activate the healing, you click on the sparkly bandage in the lower left corner of the screen.

Healing Shrines.
Healing Shrines are scattered randomly through the dungeon, like supplies, they heal and revive your troops, but unlike supplies you have to make a monetary "offering," you pay for it. The base cost is around 500 gold (in game currency) (False, it is 100 gold/level, thank you Immortalits) that scales upward with your troops level, adding another 100 gold for every level above 5 they are.

Bag Customization.
Bag customization is a very convenient way to organize your loot, the link to the customization screen is located in the upper left corner of your inventory (the inventory icon is along the top of your screen),

from the customization screen you can change everything from what kind of items are sorted into it to what color the bag icon is.

Character customization.
Sometimes you want a team that kicks tons of a** and looks good. That is where character customization comes in. To get to character customization, you click on the hood along the top of your screen, select the character you want to work on, and to customize the appearance, click on the gear icon.

There are four tabs in the character screen, they are: Statistics, Assign Skills, and two skill trees that are unique to each of the five classes. Statistics shows you all the data on the character, as well as the amount of points are in the four columns, strength, dexterity, endurance, and intellect.

How to Prepare Your (next) Fight.
In this section, I will cover:
  • Recommended equipment.
  • Farming for Health.
  • Potions.

Recomended equipment.

So, you have four level 1 fighters and you’re on your first mission, good for you! So, how do you prepare for a hostile encounter? Well, what I like to do is wander around the dungeon first, to try to find some good loot. And if you do find some good stuff go to your inventory, see that trophy icon to the far right? Clicking on that icon will show recommended equipment for the character, and then you cycle through your troops, easy!

The recommended items are usually the best choice for the character, though not always. I will try to cover the exceptions later.

Farming for Health.

Ok, your troops are on low health, the last foe stands with a fraction of health remaining, now it's time to finish him off right? Wrong! You use the opportunity to heal up! Cause at this point you can out heal any damage he can throw at you. Having your troops at optimal health at the start of a fight is more important then quickly finishing off the last foe.

Potions.

There are potions available in the game, they offer different buffs that can be really handy in a fight, though you have to ration yourself as you have a limited number of them. You have a chance before the fight starts to give your troops some potions if you so desire, but I personally, rarely think it’s a necessary action. But, if you think it's necessary, then here is what I recommend you give to each character.

Back Row
Front Row
Any Row
Specific Class
QuickSilver Elixir
Elixir of Protection, TrollsBlood Elixir
Elixir of Alertness
Flaming Elixir, Mage
Fighting Skills and Tactics.
In this section I will cover:
  • How to Distribute Stat Points on Your Troops.
  • Tanking Strategy.
  • Focus Fire.
  • Skills That I Like and Use a LOT.

How to Distribute Stat Points on Your Troops.

Stat Points are received when you level up, like skill points. But stat points are a bit more vague on what they do. There is a description for each of the four stats, but it is unclear how much they actually affect the character. Here are their names and descriptions.

Strength
Dexterity
Endurance
Intellect
Strength controls how much damage the character deals with close-combat weapons, like swords and maces. It also improves the effectiveness of some skills. Strength also increases Cause Stun + Stun Evasion
Dexterity controls how much damage the character deals with long-range weapons, like bows and crossbows, and also contributes to finesse weapons like daggers. It also improves the effectiveness of some skills. Dexterity also increases Accuracy + Evasion
Endurance controls the maximum health of the character. A higher endurance allows more hits before falling in battle. It also improves the effectiveness of some skills. Endurance also increases Health after battle + Wound resistance.
Intellect controls how much damage the character deals with magic weapons, like staves and wands. It also improves the effectiveness of many skills. Intellect also increases Chance free skill use + Power after battle.

This is how I recomend the stats to be dispersed.

Warrior
Cleric
Ranger
Mage
Rogue
100% Endurance
50% Intellect, 25% Endurance and Strength
50/50 Intellect and Dexterity
100% Intellect
50/50 Intellect and Dexterity

Tanking Strategy.

If you like your troops to have matching stats, then this tactic isn't for you. Tanking is a strategy that specializes your troops, one guy is really good at taking a beating, there are a few healers, a few damage dealers, and one well-rounded team. So, how do you pull this off? Well, you have to consider what each of the classes are good at. Warriors are the damage sponge, clerics are the emergency healers, rangers are the long term healers, and the damage dealers are the mages. The warriors have a skill called ShieldWall, this skill demands enemy attention, meaning they can't directly attack anyone else. Make sure that the warriors default fighting style is adrenalin, adrenalin prevents the character from being stunned (except the vampires, and the mummies, which still have a chance to stun you), which will remove the skill, also, don't use any other skills while it is active, it will remove the skill, and don't attack with the warrior for the same reason.

As soon as the skill is active use the ranger skill Natures Balm, and change the cleric's fighting style to radiance if you have it. Then you heal the warrior as needed.
(Note: this tactic is only worth it if there are more than three enemies, or less, if you are playing in a higher difficulty.)

This tactic isnt as effective since update 1.05 because shield wall was nerffed. Shield Wall only lasts one turn now. An alternative method is to specialize you warrior into the Command skill tree, this enables him/her to use and learn skill books for that class, specificaly the Bodyguard skill book. The Bodyguard skill alowes your commander to apoint a bodyguard that demands enemy attention, this skill would be particularily affective on the sorcerers Golem.

Focus Fire.
Also try to focus all of your attacks on one foe, preferably the weakest one you can attack, this can help a lot because if they go down faster there are less things to worry about.

Skills That I Like and Use a LOT.

Ok this is a list of skills by class that I use with great regularity.
Warrior
Cleric
Ranger
Mage
SteadFast-Passive, Shield Mastery-Passive, ShieldWall-Active
Heal-Active
Natures Balm-Active, Wild Companion:Wolf-Active
Incinerate-Active, Electrocute-Active, Overload-Passive
You can get Most (if not all) of these skills before your character reaches level 5.

Here's a tip for exp and loot, once you're able to defend yourselg (around level 8-10), head west to the temple of Seganthea and raise it the world tier all the way to the max. Then stock up on potions at the emporium do some of the easiest quests like the one that gives you an enforcer companion.

I've just started playing this game and I'm trying to clear The Pit world dungeon. I'm on the second floor and I can't beat the boss for that level. Every time I get one of the subdorned or wahtever they're called low they just heal to full hp. I can't seem to figure out what it is or how to stop it and they eventually just grind me down. How am I meant to do this?

Thanks for this, and the same for the commenters below. I'm coming into this from its predecessor, Monsters' Den: Chronicles (Remastered), and I can already see some subtle differences between the 2.

JuanDeages as far as I'm aware there is no max character level the game just seems to scale into infinity. pretty sure the dev has even said as much somewhere on the forums.

I have not been able to find this info anywhere, so I am hoping somebody can answer this since the game has been out a while. What is the max character level in godfall?
El-Gator 1 Apr, 2018 @ 1:19pm
Where skill points are concerned, it is best to invest in skills you want early because leveling is harder at high levels. Aside from that, there is no max skill points i am aware of.

A team made of a champion, thief, and a hermit will get you through most of the game. If you find a cool item, or prefer a specific class. I reccomend you fill the remaining party slot with that class.

A rouge is good as a solo fighter. But if you are fighting a boss, a mage is hands down the best option. I almost had a team of adventurers die to a beholder, but the mage survived because he summoned enough golems to stop desentigration. and after a while, he had dealt enough damage to desentigrate the boholder at 25% hp.
Dealing 340 damage in one shot.

A rouge can be murderous if given a bow, high dex, and the power to kill a foe at 50% hp instantly.

A comment here about Riftstorm Keep. I've just cleared Riftstorm Keep for the second time, and on every level I found 4 Defiled Shrines... and I ran out of Blessed Oil for them. For anyone that's looking at doing Riftstorm Keep (100% chance of Spark of Legend apon completion) then take Blessed Oils, as many as you can get. It seems to reset each month, has 3 boss encounters (1 per level) and is fairly damn tough.
