First published by Fellowship Games in 1982. Republished by ICE in 1985

Card/Board game based on The Lord of the Rings, you play one of four Hobbits or one of four Black Riders. Each player competes against all the other players to win. A Hobbit player wins if he can get the one ring to the Cracks of Doom and survive for one turn. A Black Rider player wins if he can get the ring to Barad-Dur and survive for one turn.

There is a map of Middle Earth but this is a card driven game. The map generally hinders movement and supplies places to draw cards. Cards can be tools to help you fight or move through types of terrain at a reduced cost.

A players turn consists of moving, having Friendly Exchanges, executing Power Plays, and drawing cards. Power Plays include looking at other player’s hands, taking cards from another player, and/or executing a battle against another player.

Though game play is simple and fast, strategies and subtleties of play are not always obvious and requires intelligent play through good timing in movement, using cards effectively, and especially having Friendly Exchanges and Power Plays in combinations to achieve maximum advantage.

Optional rules include playing as partners (Hobbits vs. Black Riders) and the enhanced two-player game where one player controls all four Hobbits and the other player controls all four Black Riders.

Excellent news on the ICE version of map! Will look forward to seeing it. By the way with our MECCG background we really like the card images currently in use.

You can ignore the errors on exit. The game can be played with either set of rules. I have a copy of the ICE game and board. I’ve been slowly working on a digital ICE version of the map board, but I won’t update the map till it’s perfect - might take me another year.

I just had a short session with a friend and things went much better. I noticed a script error on exit but no issue was evident during our trial run. We both think the game looks interesting and are going to play it some more so will let you know how it goes. I too like the look of the ICE map better but don't have the game to send you a scan. Also we are using the ICE rules, I think because we play a lot of MECCG. Will your scripting of Fellowship rule set conflict with that at all? Thanks a lot for creating the mod! :steamhappy:

I just checked the functionality of the mod and it's working just fine under the current TTS update.
What error dialogs are you seeing?
It's not really designed for single player, but if you want to try, you'll have to keep switching your player color to do this.

Has anybody played the mod? I noticed some error dialogs flashing up when I was trying it out single player. Don't know if that is due to TTS update or that I wasn't in multiplayer mode. Wouldn't say no to a quick intro to the interface if someone available?
