I demonstrate how useful four allied robots can be in battle, without player intervention. This was made using the SQ-UID Phreaker mk3
Usage - Recruit Robots

Buy and equip a SQ-UID Phreaker mk1, mk2 or mk3 (2, 3 or 4 follower cap respectively).

Left-click (shoot) at close range at allied Surveyor robots to hack/hire them.

Hold down right mouse button and left-click (shoot) at ground to send hired droids there.

Robots ignore commands while in battle.
Achievements
Recruiting Surveyor robots will unlock the following achievements:
  • Friendly (hire 10 different bots)
  • Sociable (hire 50 different bots)
  • Gregarious (hire 150 different bots)

Press reload to release all the currently hacked robots

Also, try to recruit the friendlies that use beam-guns - you'll learn what the gun looks like. They lug them around at waist-height in combat, are the ones with shields, and the AI is far more effective with beam-guns than they are with other firearms.

You can also combine two SQ-UID phreakers for example use mk2 and mk3 as primary and secondary weapon and with that control up to 7 robots. But with that configuration you need to be very careful keeping some distance between you and any enemy since you are an easy victim with just your default pistol armed. Just for people looking for a new challenge.
