AN-M8 Smoke Grenade

This mod will replace the inaccurate and anachronistic M18 smoke grenade with the similar and historically accurate AN-M8 smoke grenade that was widely used by the US during the Second World War.

This edition of the mod includes the inventory icons for the AN-M8 Smoke Grenade, if you are looking for the version without the inventory icons (for mod compatibility) follow the link below:

can you make a version that dosent change the inventory overlay so its compatible with other mods?

@Skelytun Both "M18" and "AN-M8" are both military designations for different smoke grenade designs. You don't need to pay anyone to use those terms, no company holds a copyright on those smoke grenades. They just got lazy and wanted to use the M18 assets they already had rather than using the period-correct M8. Also, the AN-M18 is a colored smoke grenade.

It's also why you mostly see weapons under their military designation. Like M4, M870. Because the military doesn't care if your using their designation for a weapon.

@Maki @Itchytoenail Actually yes. Yes you do. Most weapons companies have copyrights on their rifles, meaning guns have to be renamed or made look different deliberately. While the rights to some firearms and other weapons wear off, more modern or still produced weapons will have copyright. I know it sounds weird but actually look it up. EA had to pay quite a bit to have the ability to give you and M4 or a remington 870 in battlefield.

I think it is more likely that it was because they already had assets for the M18, also I am pretty sure you don't need to get permission to include a real weapon in the game, I could be incorrect though.
