Using your personal teleporter to your advantage.
Some missions require you to travel large distances and sometimes you have to repeat over terrain you have crossed over already. Well the good news is you can make this easier with your personal teleporter! By pressing the letter "T" on your keyboard you activate your personal teleporter. This can also be handy if you are stuck somewhere or lost.

The example below is the Sand Dunes map. When playing this map at the start you must ride a vehicle to the market found in the desert.

The example below is the Sand Dunes map. At the start of the map you must ride a vehicle to the market found in the desert. It will take a few seconds to travel there so if playing this map on hard you would be better off pressing “T” and teleporting just outside of the market. By doing this you will save quite a lot of time.
  • (1) At the start of this map you enter a vehicle and travel to the market.
  • (2) Use the teleport by pressing “T” and travel to the closest teleport machine.
  • (3) Go directly to the market from the teleporter.

The example below is The Mountain map. The teleporter in this map is nearly central to the puzzle. In some cases it can be much faster to use the teleporter than walking to the next letters. Once you are familiar with where the letters are you can use the teleporter to your advantage especially on hard. The only problem using the teleporter is you lose around two second of time.
  • The arrows represent that it is quicker to use the teleporter and collect those letters rather than walking from one side of the map to the other.
So that is just a few tips on how to use your teleporter to your advantage. Just make sure that you are familiar with your surroundings and always try to remember where the letters, words or sentences are.
When your personal teleporter can become a disadvantage.
In some cases using the teleporter can become a disadvantage. Especially when the teleporter is a large distance away from your target or destination.
The example below is the Castle Grounds map. The teleporter on this map would not be a good idea to use since it is some distance from the puzzle.
  • The white arrows indicate where the puzzles are.
  • the yellow arrow indicates where the teleporter is situated. This distance is too far from the puzzles and is not a good idea to use if you have a time limit.

The example below is the Big Bedroom map. This also shows that the distance needed to travel from the teleporter to the puzzle is quite some distance. With a time limit using the teleporter would be a huge disadvantage and is definitely not recommended.
  • The white arrows indicate where the puzzles are.
  • the yellow arrow indicates where the teleporter is situated.

When playing maps on hard you have a time limit. Using the teleporter or even bumping into character can use up valuable time.
  • The white arrows indicates that there is a time limit on this map if the setting is on hard and the player has been teleported and lost time.
Some characters will send you back to a teleporter if you go near them so try to stay away. Other characters may just make comments if you go near them but you can never be too sure.
  • *Note* If a character is part of a mission it is normally quite safe to approach them.
Unlocking and using the DASM city fast travel checkpoint teleporter.
In the DASM city you have many destinations to discover. In total there are 100 missions for you to unlock. With so many missions you will find that sometimes you will have to walk over the same terrain more than once. This part of the guide will explain how to use the fast travel personal teleporter to your advantage. The more missions you complete the more fast travel checkpoints you open the quicker the game plays.
When you first enter the city and press "T" you will see that your personal teleporter has changed a little bit compared to all the other maps in DASM Spell Quest. It now comes with a fast teleport button.
  • (Below) You have two options to teleport with in the DASM city maps.
(Below) When you click this new button a map will load with some red text stating that fast travel is not available yet and that you need to finish some missions first before you can travel. These fast travel points are known as checkpoints.
To unlock a checkpoint you must at least finish 10 missions first. As you unlock each group of missions you will automatically unlock a fast travel checkpoint near the character you have interacted with. Once you have finished 100 missions you will have 10 fast travel checkpoints you can access.
Even though you have not unlocked the fast travel teleporter quite yet you can still use your normal personal teleporter to your advantage. In the image below you have a mission at Bertos Barter and must travel to the Fairies house. As you can see in the left hand side bottom image below it is a large distance between the two missions. Instead of walking all the way back to Bertos Barter after seeing Fairy bloom you can simply teleport back to the teleporter located not far from the store.
  • White arrow indicates where Bertos Barter store is.
  • Yellow arrow indicates where Fairy Blooms house is.
  • *Note* Berto Barter will allow you to purchase keys from him once you finish 10 missions.
So whenever you can use the fast travel teleporter and normal teleporter to your advantage. You will find that after a while you will save lots of time by using these teleporters to quickly travel across the map. Have fun!
Riding the tram.
Riding the tram is one mode of transport you can use in the DASM city. If you have a large distance to travel you can ride the tram from one part of the city to another. The tram runs from the North side tram station to the South side tram station or vise versa. (The other way around.)
  • The tram will cost you 5 spelling tokens to use it.
  • The tram only travels between the North station and the South station.
  • *Note* Buying a tram ticket will unlock the tram achievement.
Once you buy a tram ticket you will notice in your HUD (Heads Up Display), that an image of a small tram will display. This lets you know that you are carrying a ticket and you can ride the tram any time you need to.
  • The yellow arrow indicates you currently own a ticket.
  • The white arrow shows that the tram doors are open waiting for you to enter them.
The tram is not something you will use often but if you feel like going for a ride or exploring it is there for you to travel on. Have fun!
Riding the bus.
Riding the bus is one mode of transport you can use in the DASM city. The bus travels around the city and stops only at bus stops. In total there are two buses but taking the wrong bus can take you further away from your destination. Buses have busy schedules so it is advisable for you to wait at the bus stop before the bus comes. When a bus pulls up you only have 5 seconds to board the bus.
  • The bus will cost you 5 spelling tokens to use it.
  • The bus only stops at bus stops. (There are 4 bus stops in total.)
  • *Note* Buying a bus ticket will unlock the bus achievement.
  • *Hint* Buy a bus ticket before you actually need one because the bus driver won’t wait for you if you take too long purchasing a ticket! (5 seconds.)

Once you buy a bus ticket you will notice in your HUD (Heads Up Display), that a image of a small bus will display. This lets you know that you are carrying a ticket and you can ride the bus any time you need to.
  • The yellow arrow indicates you currently own a ticket.
  • The white arrow shows that the bus is approaching and is waiting for you but for only 5 seconds.
  • You must be at a bus stop to take a bus.
The bus is not something you will use often but if you feel like going for a ride or exploring it is there for you to travel on. Have fun!
The telephone box, what is it?
If you have made it to the DASM city you may have noticed there is telephone boxes scattered around the suburbs. If you enter the telephone box it gives you a more detailed view of the area you are currently in. This can be handy if you are looking for a particular building or house but it isn’t really necessary since you have an overhead map to guide you.
  • Below is an image of the telephone boxes found in the city.
  • By pressing “C” you can open the overhead map of the city, but be aware in instant action maps and world maps pressing “C” opens your clothing menu.
  • Telephone boxes are used in some missions with Mayor Helga.
Below is an image that loads when you enter a telephone box. (Images vary depending on what area you are in.) As you can see it names most of the structures within it.
If you click the button "View Big Map", all it will do is show the map of the city shown below.
So as you can see the telephone boxes are not that important but are there just in case you want a more detailed map of the area you are in.
Have fun!
