I only have one other mod, so it almost certainly isn't a conflict issue.

This is very helpful in a lot of ways, from deciding on locations to place outlying buildings, to selecting large areas to gather resources, to getting a good overview of your town. For me, this is a welcome tool.
The full distant view can cause characters to disappear, but only from view. You will see a strange swiping effect with the way the graphics engine updates the shadow map over time. The situational icons over character and buildings will fade to invisible. The mist or fog from rain and snow storms will almost completely obscure the view of the landscape. All these effects are because you are zoomed out past certain set render distances designed for a much closer camera view. They are not "bugs"
