Starting the battle
The fight with Sumasun begins with the party spread out in a half circle around the boss. The ranged members of the party should be along this line:

After about 15 seconds, he begins to place black puddles underneath the feet of players. Avoid these puddles as they deal damage over time. At the same time, he places a permanent debuff on 3 players that causes damage over time. Healers can dispel this debuff, so stay with 25 meters of them so they can remove it off of you.
The dreaded Area of Effect cast
After about a minute of fighting the boss, he begins to cast his area of effect attack. This can be recognized by his blue glow, his voice line "I shall purify your dark hearts," and a cast bar under his name beginning to charge. This attack can one shot lower HP players. To survive this without getting hit, follow this outline:

  • Move outside the immediate range of the boss, marked in red:

  • Once his cast bar fills, the blue water will move and he will begin another cast. You must then avoid the area marked in red:

  • Finally, the blue water will move again, and he will begin his final cast. In order to survive this, you must run directly towards the boss. The only safe place during this part is the area marked in green:

Once you've survived this, an add appears, heading from the altar. This is announced by the voice line "Show yourself!" This add must be killed quickly by the ranged dps, as he leaves a trail of black smoke that deals large amounts of damage.
The home stretch (10% HP) and tips for tanks and healers
Until this point, he only repeats the mechanics covered above. When he hits 10% health, he creates a full room damage over time. It is recommended that healers do not try to resurrect during this phase as the damage over time cancels the cast. All players should look to use their damage reductions, immunities, and potions during this phase.

Tips for tanks: Sumasun places damage debuffs ("Stacks") on you throughout the fight that you can reflect back onto the boss. To properly time your reflect, you can cast it when timer on your stack gets to 41 seconds. You can also reflect the first stack by starting the fight with taunt and casting reflect when Improved Aiming gets to 27 seconds. Try to keep the boss cenetered for the fight to make it easier for your raid party to dodge his area of affect attack. When you get more than 5 stacks, start to use your blessing of hte dragone very minute to reduce damage taken. Also use your damage reduction core if you have one. A deer is helpful to get out of the area of affect attack.

Tips for healers: Cast your eternal love when the boss begins placing puddles on the ground. It is useful to use Intensive healing + Eternal love when the boss gets to 10% HP. Place Arita's Protection on the tank, or on yourself if you're the only healer. Keep your dispel skill handy, as you'll be using it a lot. Using a cast speed core is also very helpful in raids, as using that allows for very fast resurrects.
