Port Forward
Belive it or not nat punching DOES NOT WORK!!! "So what do we do?" you ask? Well for starters learn how to port forward and do it for all of your game servers. It takes time but it avoids issues with nat punching, or games that need port forwarding.
To port forward on Windows:
  1. Click the start button or Search bar (Windows 8 and up)
  2. Search "cmd" (No "". There are people that do that and its stupid NEVER SEARCH ")
  3. Click on command prompt
  4. Enter "ipconfig"
  5. Find "Wireless Network Connection"
  6. Under "Wireless Network Connection" find "Default Gateway" It should look like 192.168.0.1
  7. Enter that into your Internet Browser (as if you typed youtube.com)
  8. Sign into your router
  9. Find "Port Forwarding" or "Port Settings" (Could be under "Firewall")
  10. Add CC to your Exceptions
(Choose your own port and set "IP Address" to your INTERNAL IP from where you will run your server.)
Actually Running the Server/Pros Cons (Alpha 0.852)
  1. Now that your Router is configured open CC
  2. Click Multiplayer

  3. Then Start Server

  4. Then Set your Settings
Your Done!

Pros:
  • Stable Build
  • Few Errors when done correctly
  • Playable with 100+ ping (Out of Combat)
  • Aerodynamic mode has a more "Ocean" like feel making those bad pings bearable.
  • Large Map so if you want to play "Peacefully" you can.
Cons:
  • A little laggy (visual movement of player ship) for anyone that isnt the host
  • Frames will die on collissions (Older cards for host, always for those not hosting)
  • Few to no Servers
  • Current servers are run by players without 24/7 uptime
  • Map is Laggy on any PC (Being fixed)

This List ONLY reflects Primary Pros/Cons of MULTIPLAYER. Some might be in Singleplayer as well but are heavily multiplayer focused.

Dang. I tried the auto UnPn in game it doesnt load the game. I would love to pick your brain on this I convinced a couple of my friends to buy the game. We would love to play. :)

@Laceon Yes however this only works on some routers...and even then isn't always going to work...
Celestial Command has a built in tool for UpNp which just punches a hole through your networks firewall and forces a port open. This setting has to be already enabled on your network (allow UnPn or something similar) and I can't quite remember but there might be an option in-game as well. If that doesn't work the only way is THIS. I admit this is an older post but the exact same thing STILL applies so please check that you didn't do something wrong and if you didn't do anything wrong please DM me so that I can work directly with you.
