Counter-Strike: GO | Launch options, Console commands and Settings

This guide will explain you how to config you Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
You will config your Launch Options as well as your in-game settings.

Launch Options
To input launch options, head over to Steam, right click on Counter-Strike: GO and go to properties. Click on 'Set Launch Options...'. A box will apear. The syntax for commands that you put is is "-[command]".

Load console on start
-console
This option will enable to open console at startup of the game. This option is usefull for making sure your config files have loaded correctly.

Disable intro video
-novid
This option will disable the Valve intro. This will save you seconds every time you start your game.

High CPU priotiy
-high
This option will give a high priority in your CPU. This means background tasks won't slow down your game. This command is usefull when playing with a second monitor. (Messing with your CPU priority is NOT risk free. But it is unlikely to do any damage. Disable this command when you are experiencing bluescreens.)

CPU threads usage
-threads [value]
This option will tell your CPU how many CPU threads is will use. Recommended to set this to the amount of cores your CPU has.

Offline server tickrate
-tickrate [value]
This option will change the tickrate your "Offline Server" will be. Tickrate is the amount of times per seconds a server updates the status of everything. Default it is 64 ticks. If you want to change to the competitive server tickrate, you will change it to 128.

Graphics options
-fullscreen
This option will load your game in fullscreen mode

-windowed
This option will load your game in a window. These following commands will set the width, height and position:

-w [width] -h [height] -x [horizonal position] -y [vertical positio]
If you want to fill a 1080p monitor, you would use: -h 1920 -w 1080 -x 1921 -y 0

-noborder
This option will remove te border around the window.

Client language
-language [language]
This option forces the client into a certain language. This is useful then you want it in English but have a non-English Steam client.
Console Commands
To access your console. Open your game and head over to "Game Options". There you see the option: "Enable Developer Console (~). Switch this option to "Yes". This will enable your console on your tilda key (~). You can change this bind in your "Keyboard and Mouse" settings
HUD Settings
hud_scaling [value]
This will change the size of your HUD.
  • Lowest value is "0.5"
  • Highest value is "0.95"

hud_showtargetid [value]
This controls whether names show up when hovering over players
  • 0 - Disables the show up
  • 1 - Enables the show up

cl_hud_background_alpha [value]
This will change the opacity of your HUD
  • Lowest value is "0"
  • Highest value is "1"

cl_hud_bomb_under_radar [value]
This will cchage the position of the bomb indicator.
  • 0 - The bomb indicator will be shown in your inventory
  • 1 - The bomb indicator will be shown under your radar

cl_hud_color [value]
This changes the in-game HUD color.

Colors:
  • 1= Aqua
  • 2= Green
  • 3= Yellow
  • 4= Orange
  • 5= Red
  • 6= Pink
  • 7= Purple
  • 8= Blue
  • 9= Light Blue
  • 10= White

cl_hud_playercount_showcount [value]
This will change the scoreboard to the number of players or all of their avatars.
  • 0 - Will show player avatars
  • 1 - Will show the amount of players

cl_hud_playercount_pos [value]
This will change the scoreboard position. "1" is top "0" is bottom
  • 0 - Scoreboard will be on top of your screen
  • 1 - Scoreboard will be on the bottom of your screen
Radar Settings
cl_radar_always_centered value
This command will change the center of the radar
  • 0 - The map will be the center point of the radar
  • 1 - You will be the centerpoint of the radar

cl_radar_scale value
This command will scale the map down on the radar.
  • Lowest value is "0.25"
  • Highest value is "1.0"

cl_hud_radar_scale value
This command will scale the radar HUD.
  • Lowest value is "0.8"
  • Highest value is "1.3"

cl_radar_icon_scale_min value
This command will scale the dots (The player indicators) on the radar.
  • Lowest value is "0.4"
  • Highest value is "1.0"

cl_radar_rotate value
With this command the radar will (or won't) rotate with your vieuw
  • 0 - Will disable radar rotation
  • 1 - Will enable radar rotation

These settings will make your radar show the whole map. This will make it easier to spot enemies.
  • cl_radar_always_centered 0
  • cl_radar_scale 0.3
  • cl_hud_radar_scale 1.15
  • cl_radar_icon_scale_min 1
  • cl_radar_rotate 1
Crosshair Settings
Your crosshair is the imporant part in CS:GO. You can change your crosshair with the following commands:
cl_crosshairstyle [value]
  • 0 - Default Crosshair
  • 1 - Static version of the Default Crosshair
  • 2 - Crosshair with Dynamic recoil and movement boxes
  • 3 - Crosshair with Dynamic recoil and movement
  • 4 - Static Crosshair
  • 5 - Static Crosshair with dynamic recoil
cl_crosshairthickness [value]
  • Lowest value is 0.6
  • Thickest value is unknown
cl_crosshaircolor [value]
  • 0 - Red
  • 1 - Green
  • 2 - Yellow
  • 3 - Dark Blue
  • 4 - Light Blue
  • 5 - Custom

To get custom color crosshair use the commands:
  • cl_crosshaircolor_r [value]
  • cl_crosshaircolor_g [value]
  • cl_crosshaircolor_b [value]
With these commands you can change the RGB settings of your custom crosshair. The "R" stands for "RED", "G" for "Green" and the "B" for "Blue" The value can be between 0 - 255.

cl_crosshairsize [value]
  • Lowest value for your crosshairsize is 0.6
  • Highest value is unknown
cl_crosshairalpha [value]
With this command you can change the transparency of your crosshair. With 0 as lowest value and 255 as highest value.

cl_crosshairdot [value]
This command will disable or enable a dot in your crosshair.
  • 0 - Will disable a dot in your crosshair
  • 1 - Will enable a dot in your crosshair

cl_crosshairgap [value]
This command will increase or decrease the gap of your crosshair. This depends on the value you choose.
  • Default value is 0
  • Highest value is unknown
  • If you want a smaller gap then the default you can use negative numbers example: "-1.5"
  • Do you have "cl_crosshairstyle 1" you need to use "cl_fixedcrosshairgap"

cl_crosshair_drawoutline [value]
This command will enable or disable a outline on your crosshair
  • 0 - Will disable a outline
  • 1 - Will enable a ouline

cl_crosshair_outlinethickness [value]
With this command you can choose how big the outline needs to be.
  • Default value is 0
  • Highest value is unknown
  • You can use decimal values

ViewModel Settings
Your viewmodel changes the view of how you see your arms and weapons. you can change it with these commands:
cl_righthand [value]
With this command you can choose if you want to hold your gun on the right side or the left side of the screen.
  • 0 - Will hold your gun on the left side of the screen
  • 1 - Will hold your gun on the right side of the screen

viewmodel_offset_x [value]
This command will move your weapon to the left or right.
  • Default value is "1"
  • Lowest value is "-2"
  • Highest value is "2,5"

viewmodel_offset_y [value]
This command with choose how far your weapon will be
  • Default value is "1"
  • Lowest value is "-2"
  • Highest value is "2"

viewmodel_offset_z [value]
This command will change the height of your weapon
  • Default value is "-1"
  • Lowest value is "-2"
  • Highest value is "2"

viewmodel_fov [value]
With this command you can change how far out you want your gun
  • Default value is "60"
  • Lowest value is "54"
  • Highest value is "68"

cl_bob_lower_amt [value]
This comand will change how far back the player will holds it's weapon when he is moving.
  • Default value is "21"
  • Lowest value is "5"
  • Highest value is "21"

cl_bobamt_lat [value]
cl_bobamt_vert [value]
These 2 commands will change how much the player will move it's weapon from left to right when he is moving
  • Default value for _lat is "0.40"
  • Lowest value for _lat is "0.10"
  • Highest value for _lat is "2"

  • Default value for _vert is "0.25"
  • Lowest value for _vert is "0.10"
  • Highest value for _vert is "2"

Sound Settings
volume [value]
This will change your volume scale
  • Lowest value is "0.0"
  • Highest value is "1.0"

voice_enable [value]
This will enable or disble in-game communication.
  • 0 - Disable In-Game Communication
  • 1 - Enable In-Game Communication

voice_scale [value]
This will adjust the volume that you receive the in-game communication from other players.
  • Lowest value is "0.0"
  • Highest value is "1.0"

windows_speaker_config [value]
This will adjust the sound options
  • -1= auto-pick
  • 1= headset
  • 3= four speakers
  • 4= two speakers
  • 5= surround

snd_musicvolume [value]
This changes the master music volume.
  • Lowest value is "0.0"
  • Highest value is "1.0"
Graphic Settings
mat_monitorgamma [value]
This commands alters how bright the game world is.
  • Lowest value is "1.6"
  • Highest value is "2.1"

fps_max [value]
This command will set a maximun of FPS.
  • Lowest value is "0". This will disable the lock
  • There is no highest value

r_dynamic value
  • 0 - Turns off dynamic lighting.
  • 1 - Torns on dunamic lighting.

r_drawtracers_firstperson value
  • 0 - Removes the light tracers from your weapon when firing
  • 1 - Will show the light tracers from your weapong when firing

mat_savechanges
This saves your graphic options. Next time you boot into your game your settings will be the same.
Performance Settings
These settings will smooth your game (especially on 128tick servers). You wont notice a massive change.

rate 128000
cl_cmdrate 128
cl_updaterate 128
cl_interp 0
cl_interp_ratio 1
cl_lagcompensation 1
Extra Commands
exec [filename]
This command will execute a file. This file can be a config file or you can load a map with it.

host_writeconfig [filename]
This will create a config file with your current settings.

Your config file will be saved at this location:
Steam/userdata/[Your steamID3 number]/730/local/cfg/[filename.cfg]
Copy or Cut it to this location:
Steam/steamapps/common/Counter-Strike Global Offensive/csgo/cfg

Now when you load your game and open your console and type "exec [filename.cfg]".
