(Reuploaded after issues updating the other one)

(Updated for 1.5.1)

This namelist is meant to bring you to a different time. A time when men were men, the laws of physics were loose, and every planet in the Solar System, it seemed, was habitable. And they didn't have no stinking warpdrives or wormholes. No, all that was needed was ROCKETS.

Yes, this namelist brings you names taken from or inspired by science fiction novels, short stories, comics, serials, television series and radio programs from the 1930s, 40s, 50s, and early 1960s (some from outside those time periods also appear, but in those cases they are connected by virtue of having been written by or purposefully emulated somebody who wrote a lot during that period).

The namelist provides Leader names, Spaceship names, Planet names and to a certain extent Space Station names. If you have any issues or suggestions, please let me know in the comments.

It can be found under "name_list_retr" in the namelist selection.

Among the works that provided inspiration or names for this namelist:
Buck Rogers
Flash Gordon
The works of Roger Heinlein, Andre Norton, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Ray Bradbury, etc.
Mystery Science Theater's collection of 1950s space movies
TV shows like "Tom Corbett" and "Space Patrol"
Actual scientists, pilots, astronauts, and writers
Comic Books

This is just the first of several mods in what I'm calling the "Stellaris B-Movie" project (more for the "spirit" of the works involved rather than the quality of the works).

Can I recommend you peruse the works of Edward Elmer Smith - AKA E.E. "Doc" Smith, who practically INVENTED pulp Sci-Fi? Lots of great names in there...

Were you the guy who made the seemingly deleted Retro Portraits mod with all the different B Movie alien species? If so, why remove it from the workshop and could I have the files for my own purposes?

@ᵏʰᵒʳₙᵉ Shits'N'Giggles Okay, if you ever change your mind (say, if it is more "later" than "sooner" that I get back to Stellaris), just let me know so that I can update this page to send somebody to your updated version.

@gamingbattle thanks for the reply. Since you are planning on updating it then i wont re-upload since it would be redundant.

@hᵏʰᵒʳₙᵉ Shits'N'Giggles Hey, I'll probably update it sooner or later, or have it as part of a larger mod (which includes photos and such) that I was working on. I'm just kind of in a down-time as far as Stellaris is concerned right now (so many good games these days!). If you want to update it you have my permission so long as you credit me and link back to this.

@Dermoritz98 Are there any plans to update the mod? If not i would be happy to update the mod and re-upload it or just send you the updated files.

No, I don't think so.
