1. NEVER. EVER. EVER. Dribble the ball for more than 1 second. As a forward your main role is to sneak behind the defense and get as close to the net for a goal. Of course you are not in the enemy goal zone the entire game, but you must never dribble the ball for longer than 1 second. Some may ask why. Simple. Your Run attribute and Dribble Speed attribute are two different stats which bear no relation to another. Forwards have very bad dribble speed and should use their Run without the ball to find spaces.

2. TRACK BACK FOR DEFENSE. As a forward, your responsibility is to score, yes. But I see many forwards make the mistake of staying in the enemy half the entire game. What does this do? It leaves your team without a fourth defender which may be very necessary to stop a powerful player on the enemy team.

3. DO NOT STAY IDLE. Always be on the move. A lazy forward is extremely useless. Use your high stamina and run to find angles behind the defenders to create open pass lanes for your midfielders. Ensure that you are capable of receiving the ball from either a through pass, lob pass or ground pass. Staying behind the defender the entire game will have you shut out save for a mistake from the defender.

4. PASS AND RUN. USE PASS AND RUN TO PASS AND RUN. Seriously, this skill is the most important for any forward you choose post 40, and should be a staple in every forwards skillset. You can buy this skill in the early levels to aid your movement and attacking ability. By holding E every time you pass, you provide yourself with a very strong speed boost that will get you past any player in the game for a small enough window to recieve a lead pass. Pass and move is a skill I see often ignored in this game which is a shame as it has potential to lead fast breaks with the speed of high level game play.

5. YOU ARE NOT ZLATAN. Too often I see forwards try to launch the ball from range because they think this is like FIFA. Forwards start off with very poor shooting power which means you should stay within the box when shooting. Thankfully, forwards are blessed with higher shooting technique and accuracy which means you should be aiming to a side when you shoot. A skill that helps you in the early levels is curved shot. Its not a mandatory buy like pass & run but it helps give you an idea of how to properly aim your shot in the long run.

1. NEVER. EVER. EVER. Dribble the ball for longer than 1.5 seconds. Of course this changes in advanced levels as dribble stats change. But if you are a MF, DMF, and sometimes AMF, a good rule of thumb is to look for a connecting pass before you receive the ball yourself. Always ensure that you have one pass you can escape towards if you are incapable of creating a play.

2. FOCUS ON the positioning of your teammates. A lot of midfielders blindly get stuck into the rhythm of spamming one particular pass. exercise your skill by always looking for a pass beyond your escape target (usually your teams defender or other midfielder).

3. WATCH YOUR POSITION. Positioning for midfielder may be the hardest in the game as you must always have control over a larger zone than both DF and FW. Sometimes you may be caught too far in the attack, and other times you may be too far back to have impact on your team.

4. If your team is under pressure, PASS BACK. Passing to the GK in situations of pressure is almost always the safer plan than to continue dribbling and losing the ball. By passing back you both reset your teams positioning and drag forth the enemy team. Dragging them forward towards you opens up the back line for a pass to the forward who should be looking to exploit that space.

5. YOU ARE NOT RONALDINHO. Realize that this game is a very high skill floor game, and that dribbling is something that takes an extreme amount of time and dedication to get decent with. Midfielders often think FSF is just like FIFA and that becomes their worst enemy. This is why I said earlier that you should not hold the ball for more than 1.5 seconds if you do not know how to dribble. Mastering dribbling is one of the most difficult things to do in this game and should only be practiced in training with friends or in regular games with teammates you both trust and know. Do not go into a random match with the goal of dribbling past everybody.

6. YOU ARE NOT PIRLO. Often I run into midfielders who destroy the entire flow of the offense by their positioning and passing. Sitting back, not aiding the forward in attack and booting hail mary lobs into the enemy team is a good way to create large gaps in your midfield and allow for the enemy team to counter attack you much easier. Practicing lob passing is something you should do once again with teammates you both know and trust. Do not enter a game thinking you could lob the entire team to a forward who may not catch on to your passes. That just separates your midfield and attack and puts your forward on an island.

1. DO. NOT. DRIBBLE in the vicinity of an enemy on the other team. Try to plan who you will pass to before you recieve the ball.

2. STAY CONSERVATIVE. Especially if you are a lone defender, a lot of DFs try to make insane interceptions, often leaving a forward open behind them. If you do not trust your ability to intercept 95% of through passes behind you, track back with the forward and tackle after they recieve.

3. JOCKEY. JOCKEY. JOCKEY. I can't say it enough. This is the most important skill for any defender, and guess what? You have it for free. Jockeying does 3 things
a. Provides interference to the enemy team through their shots
b. Helps you position properly for a tackle
c. Uses your strength in aerial duels/rebounds
Jockeying should always be done when you are defending an attacker. All you have to do to jockey is hold Q, so whats stopping you? You cannot win every tackle or get to a forward before every shot, but if you are in interference range and hold Q, you drastically diminish their ability to score. By holding Q you also decrease the quality of the enemy dribble. Dribble defense is a stat that is activated by Q which means you are actively making them dribble a bit worse by just holding a button. Make sure you always jockey in the game, except for situations in which you are sprinting.

4. POSITION. Make sure you're sprinting as little as possible. The defender who sprints least is a defender who is in position. A defender in position is a defender who wins games. Of course you will have to sprint in a game, to keep up with attackers, but if you find yourself playing catch up too often soon enough your luck will run out.

5a. YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LONG PASSES ALL THE TIME. Too often I see defenders using lob pass to boot the ball to the other side of the field. Sure, sometimes you find that forward who is always ready for it, or the defender on the enemy team who can never stop it, but other times you find the enemy team launches counter attacks off of that. Remember, jumping for headers makes you have a delay in getting back to running, increasing the delay based on which position you are. You do not want your teammates to constantly be in aerial duels as one could turn into a blindingly fast counter attack.

5b. YOU DON'T HAVE TO THROUGH PASS EVERY TIME. Through passes put your teammate on a trajectory, and unless cleanly placed will decommission the receiver and give the enemy defender a blocked pass stat.

6. CALCULATED PATIENCE. This is a skill you develop with experience. How to maintain the ball just enough to deliver a good ground pass to a teammate who is coming to collect or in proper position to receive that pass. Make sure you always have the escape pass ready in your situation here (GK). Passing to the GK is not bad in any situation.
