Midnight Outlaw Six Hours to Hot Mess
Midnight Outlaw: Six Hours to Sun Up is a game that was released in 2005 as a cheap budget title from Valusoft, probably to cash in on games like Grand Theft Auto and Midnight Club. And it really shows.

The game itself is like a weird cross between the two, the cars handle like a poor mans GTA car, and the customization is just like a poor mans Midnight Club with the graphics of MAYBE a mid 90s racer. Its really a weird beast that you're either going to be okay with or hate.

THE UPSIDES TO THIS GAME

-It runs on almost anything if you're stubborn enough to try, seriously, it'll run on a netbook with under 512mb ram and Windows 98, and with a little work it'll even run on Windows 10
-Plays surprisingly well, like, almost criminally good for a budget title
-The maps actually impressive for a budget title too, while its no where near as big as most other titles that share similarities with Midnight Outlaw: Six Hours to Hotcakes it has a little bit of exploring and the most fun I've had with this game in the 2 times I've owned it
-It has a story!
-Surprising amount of customization options, even if there aren't many cars
-There's a very real chance if you have this game you either got it for 2 bucks or so on sale or got it for free somewhere

THE DOWNSIDES

-There has to be a guide on how to make it work because its not as young as it used to be
-The games controls, while good for a budget title are not going to blow you away and you will get pissed off as you crash once and have to completely restart a race
-It has some weird choices in what to do with the camera that almost makes the game unplayable (try crashing and you'll be treated to a slowmo sky cam of your car lightly smacking a tree, activate nitro and you'll enter Saturationland)
-There is one song for driving, and its not very good at all
-Some madman made a sequel to this game, but that's not on steam

If you're reading this though you probably want to hop right in and see for yourself what kind of mess this game really is under its terribly named hood, and luckily for you its actually super easy!

ACTUALLY PLAYING THE GAME

Its actually pretty easy!

Okay, so what you're going to need to do is go to the folder for Midnight Outlaw in your Steamapps folder, then you go through each .exe file (every one, don't leave any) and change compatibility mode to Windows 98. And you're good to go! You might notice some minor graphics issues on startup and some cutscenes seem to cut out a bit, but hey, at the very least you can now enjoy Midnight Outlaw Six Hours to Stupid Name.

TIPS

-When you start Midnight Outlaw: Six Hours to Flippity Floo No Sequel For You for the first time it'll try to install a Direct X 9 runtime, this will probably fail spectacularly, but the game SHOULD still work despite that.

-Put on some other music or suffer, the one driving song IS NOT good

-While this game does have controller support, you're much better off mapping the keys in a program like joy2key, otherwise you'll be stuck using your keyboard for menus.

-Remember, Midnight Outlaw: Six Hours to VroomVroom is a budget game, you're not going to get blown away by this hot mess. It is a good way to blow a few bucks and have a couple laughs though.

If you have any questions about Midnight Outlaw: Six Hours to Moon Down be sure to comment and I'll try to respond, because the world needs more information on silly games like this.

The fun part: this works for me, but I started in windowed mode.
And now it doesn't let me to do fullscreen at all.
Not even with ALT+ENTER.

There's no need for compatibility setting if your're using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. For a moment it didn't work for me after it worked before. Turns out as GauRocks said, 'uninstall LAV filters' but i also uninstalled K-Lite Codec pack just to be sure.

What's the name of the sequel?

Some people are probably getting the "Could not find output pin! hr=0x80040216" error.

The fix is to uninstall LAV filters from the control panel. Your system is trying to use a codec that the game can't handle to play the videos.
