Uploading Screenshots to Screenshot Category

This guide will teach you how to upload a screenshot of opencanvas and upload it to OpenCanvas community hub under the screenshot category.

NOTE: Steam default naming scheme is "YYYYMMDDHHmmSS.jpg". (E.g. 20170304141800_1.jpg)
  • YYYY - Year
  • MM - Month
  • DD - Day
  • HH - Hour
  • mm - Minute
  • SS - Seconds
Creating the Screenshot Files
  1. Take a screenshot of your application using the "PrtScr" button or "Alt + PrtScr".
  2. Open up OpenCanvas.
  3. Create a new canvas.
  4. Paste your screenshot into the canvas.
  5. Save your screenshot as a jpeg image file.
  6. Save another copy your screenshot with the postfix, "_vr".
Creating the Thumbnail Files
  1. Take a screenshot of your application using the "PrtScr" button or "Alt + PrtScr".
  2. Open up OpenCanvas.
  3. Create a new canvas.
  4. Paste your thumbnail into the canvas.
  5. Under the "Image" tab, select "Image Size".
  6. Resize the image to "200 x 112 pixels".
  7. Save your thumbnail as a jpeg image file.
  8. Save another copy your thumbnail with the postfix, "_vr".
Moving the Images to Steam Screenshot Folders
  1. Move your image file to the directory, "C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/userdata/[USER_ID]/760/remote/[APP_ID]/screenshots"
  2. If the directory "thumbnails" does not exist, create the "thumbnails" directory

  3. Move your thumbnail file to the directory, "C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/userdata/[USER_ID]/760/remote/[APP_ID]/screenshots/thumbnails"
Uploading Screenshots to Screenshot Category
  1. Restart Steam.
  2. Once Steam has restarted, go to "View" and "Screenshot" to display the screenshot uploader.

  3. Under the "Show" dropdown box, select OpenCanvas.

  4. Select the image you want to upload to steam.
  5. Add a caption to the screenshot.
  6. Click on the "Upload".
  7. Browse to OpenCanvas community hub and look under the "Screenshot" section, you should see that your screenshot. Do note that it may take a while for it to be uploaded.
