Tyre Basics
Your tyres are your connection to the road, if they fail you can find yourself suddenly moving in a direction you do not want to go. Or even flipping when the tyre grabs at the wrong moment. Your tyres are your life. Take care of them and choose them well.
Tyre Compounds
There are three tyre compounds available on all tyre types.
Hard: These give the least traction but last the longest*
Medium: A middle ground more traction than hard but they last longer than soft*
Soft: The most traction available for every tyre type but they wear the fastest*

*In theory see tyre wear section
Tyre Wear
Tyre wear occurs naturally as you drive, this is a sad fact of life in jalopy as you often have to replace or repair tyres every single section
Tyre wear also occurs very quickly when you lose traction, similar to a real car burning through tyres extremely quickly while drifting or doing burnouts

In theory as of 3/23/2017 hard compound lasts longer than the other two. In theory. However due to the extreme lack of traction if you hear the screeching noise at all while driving you lose your tyres very quickly. Specifically soft compounds not slipping will go 350km and still be driveable(on 1/3 but driveable) hard compound on the same exact setup made it 3/4 of the next pavement leg. Not even the full trip. Because they lost traction so much they burst from the high stress.
Sadly this means that only soft tyres are worth it.

Rejoice though because tyres CAN be fixed, if you buy the repair rack from the Laika dealer. At this point you can lift the car unbolt the tyre and fix it with the wrench in your trunk the higher grades fix better of course but such is life
Tyre Types
Road tyres: Racing slicks, useable on the road but worthless with even a drop of rain, also very slick on offroad but skill and not being a lead foot can compensate slightly

Wet tyres: When I first saw these I thought they were like real road tyres, all purpose passable tyres, NO. They are only really useful in rain. But as the only tyre I've had success with in the rain they are ESSENTIAL try to carry at least two (4 is better) with you at all times

Offroad tyres: What is says on the tin, the tyre built for dirt roads. Useful but I rarely carry them though if you find one on a red laika while driving on dirt why not.
What Should I Carry
My opinion so grain of salt, you mileage may vary(Pun intended)

4 soft road
4 soft wet

When dry; use road when on dirt slow down.
When wet; use wet when on dirt slow down.
