Simple Balanced Crossbows for Vendors and Crafting

Dawnguard DLC required for mod to function.

This mod adds crafting recipes for crossbows and bolts similar to the ones bethesda has added for bows and arrows. Crossbows and bolts are now also everywhere bows and arrows are sold. I also tweaked the damage a little making the crossbows a teensy bit weaker. You need to remember that although crossbows have a high base damage, the total damage done is based off both the weapon and the ammunition, which means the steel crossbow is equivalent to the elven bow except for its monstrous staggering power. For a complete list of changes and recipes read the following:


-Steel and Dwarven Bolts added to everywhere Steel and Dwarven Arrows are sold.
-Value of Dwarven and Steel bolts made equivalent to their arrow counterparts.
-Changed cost of Void Salts from 125 to 50 to balance them in terms of Frost and Fire salts.
-Changed base damage of Crossbow and Enhanced Crossbow from 19 to 18
-Changed base damage of Dwarven Crossbow and Enhanced Crossbow from 22 to 20



Crafting Recipes Crossbows:

Crossbow
Perks: Steel Smithing
Ingredients: 3 Steel Ingot, 3 Firewood, 3 LeatherStrips
Temper: 1 Steel

Crossbow Enhanced
Perks: Advanced Armors
Ingredients: 3 Steel Ingot, 2 Corrundum Ingot, 3 Firewood, 3 Leatherstrips
Temper: 1 Steel

Dwarven Enhanced
Perks: Dwarven Smithing
Ingredients: 4 Dwarven Ingot, 2 Leatherstrips, 2 Dwarven Gear, 2 Firewood
Temper: 1 Dwarven Ingot

Dwarven Crossbow Enhanced
Perks: Dwarven Smithing, Arcane Smithing
Ingredients: 4 Dwarven Ingots, 2 Leatherstrips, 2 Dwarven Gear, 2 Firewood, 1 Dwarven

Centurion Dynamo
Temper: 1 Dwarven Ingot

Crafting Recipes Bolts:

24 Steel Bolt
Perks: Steel Smithing
Ingredients: 1 Steel Ingot, 1 Firewood

24 Dwarven Bolt
Perks: Dwarven Smithing
Ingredients: 1 Dwarven Ingot, 1 Firewood

24 Enchanted Steel Bolts:
Perks: Arcane Smithing
Ingredients: 24 Steel Bolts, 2 Fire Salts or Frost Salts or Void Salts

24 Enchanted Dwarven Bolts:
Perks: Dwarven Smithing, Arcane Smithing
Ingredients: 24 Dwarven Bolts, 2 Fire Salts, or Frost Salts, or Void Salts

probably a bug then. I made this mod for myself when dawnguard came out and decided to share with workshop. But now there are much better and refined mods that do what my mod do but better.

i have a lvl 15 dark elf though. maybe you need to be higher leveled than that

IIRC you can purchase the basic crossbow and the dwarven crossbow. The items are levelled though so I think you need to about lvl 7 -15 for them to start appearing

I can't find any vendors who sell crossbows but they do sell bolts. crossbows are still craftable however. Is this a bug or does it take time for the vendors to add the crossbows to their inventory?
