Description

The series that defined Survival Horror has finally undergone its own transformation. I have been very vocal about how the series has fallen onto hard times with games like Resident Evil Revelations 2, where the game seemingly couldn't keep a consistent tone throughout its story or gameplay. But Resident Evil 7 signifies a new beginning for the franchise: a place where it can make its stamp on the gaming community once again. This more horror based Resident Evil has a lot of strengths and weaknesses, but is it what the series was looking for? Will be remembered as the equivalent of Resident Evil 4: the genre defining game in the series that brought it to new heights? Or has capcom failed to deliver once again, and let bad decision after bad decision get in the way of a good game? That's what I'm here to find out, in this comprehensive review of Resident Evil 7!
