I didn't play that one a lot, but Rogue Spear offered a quite similar very interesting experience - while being apparently a lot easier to play on modern rigs. And yes, I agree : this kind of design, unfortunately short-lived, really allowed for this kind of fun mental challenge, especially for people with only average mechanical skills... You could then spend hours to devise plans which, little by little, allowed the player to take the back seat, just letting his team win the day.

My sole objective for the whole game was actually to launch every mission, slightly improving the initial planification over time, until it allowed tor a bullet-free and no allies down victory in at least 85 % of cases. Which proved to be quite difficult in the end (and I believe I still have to finish some missions in this way), but hey !, being able to hand save files to someone telling him "Use this plan, grab your mug and just watch your team in action ^^ !" feels really satisfying, isn't it :) ?
