How to install Vegetation Mod - graphical overhaul for RTW - mp compatible!
By Cyrus The Great
Quick and simple guide how to boost graphics of your RTW copy. Works for both disk and Steam version.
Multiplayer and singleplayer compatible. Does not affect other mods.
This mod is all about making grass and other kind of terrains looks much better than what we all used to play with.

How to install Veg Mod (1/2)
Hello. Since I was unable to find similar guide, i decided to write this one on my own.

All credits for VegMod goes to Naacal (https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/id/naacalthewizard).

I am assuming you're using clean, non-modded version of RTW&BI - sometimes mods can mess up game files etc - so in case of any doubt I advice to use "Verify integrity of game files" option built-in Steam or reinstall game from scratch.

Steps you need to follow in order to get VegMod installed and running:

0) optional - make a backup of replays and saves, just in case something goes wrong. Backup is always a wise choice.

1) Launch game. Go to video options and set all settings to lowest possible (no anti-aliasing and 1024x768 is a MUST!)

2) Find a folder where your copy of RTW sits in.

In my case it's X:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold

Now, in root (main) directory, open data folder. Delete following file: descr_vegetation.db from X:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold\data;

then delete all *.vege files from vegetation subfolder

and delete all files within sprites directory.

3) Download https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1KKEUnhnhT0elR6ZnZDTzVQQVU/view?usp=sharing&resourcekey=0-AvFAolYYZTRXqR8gb9fSKw and extract VegMod.rar to any location.

Open it and now copy all files from vegmod to data folder of rome, make sure to choose "overwrite all", "replace all" or similar sounding option.

4) Launch RTW and go to quick battle. Don't mess with graphics settings just yet. Exit game.

5) Start Rome once more, tweak all settings.

6) Restart game. Mod is ready. Enjoy!

Thanks to Nacaal for making such an awesome mod!

I hope my guide was helpful and easy to follow.

Gl hf guys

Actually, you only have to disable AA and set the resolution to 1024x768. The rest of the settings can be left unchanged.
For the non-Steam version set the resolution to 1024x768x16 (16-bit).

Also, do not delete the textures as it will just make the trees pop out of nowhere.
