@aideorat: You need more essence to upgrade your dream nail

Just a tip for this tricky area: if you are bad as me, use hiveblood, and just wait a couple seconds every time you get hit, so you won't start all over

How come when I hit that dead bug with the dream nail nothing happens?

Great job! There is one thing I did notice on my playthrough you might want to know and that's after you get to the top of the tower there is a false wall to the right side that has lore before you grab the White Fragment. Worst part about it is after you pick the item up it seems you cannot return.
