10 facts of Tharsis you must not know about
  1. Don't pick up the game if you are a casual player. There is no shame to put the game down.
  2. The Space is harsh but it is possible against all odds if you know risk managements and resources managements well.
  3. Tharsis orginates from Yahtzee (or Yacht, or Crag, or some other kinds of dice category games).
  4. Estimate how many dice you need to settle a diaster before deploying your crews to the events. Dividing Repair difficulty by four, you will know how many dice you need. (Dividing by three is safer, especially module with void (or static hazards).
  5. There are 3 class of events: red, yellow and green. Always check the roadmap (or distance) to the Mars, foreseeing how many events, what class of event you will deal with.
  6. It is crucial "who the crew goes first" because you always need a backup plan. Sometimes the dice suck, you have to deploy another crew to settle the diaster. Sometimes the dice goes amazing well, you may deploy the backup crew to another module, so that you may get some extra bump on hull or food or health. This is the art of risk management.
  7. Your resources is thin. I promise you'll need every bit of it. Don't move through any event. Don't waste any food. Don't waste a dice, or even a dice point! Put the extra dice to the research bar if you don't need them. The research bar makes all the differences!
  8. If you haven't play Yahtzee before, please note that you may hold some good dice before do a second roll (or third for the specialist). I always hold "5"s and "6"s while repair. I always hold the double dice or triple dice while plant.
  9. Don't allocate a "6" if you can heal a crew with a "5". Don't allocate 21 dice points if you can repair the module with 20.
  10. Don't tease someone who doesn't like Tharsis. Some people use to waste things in real life, and not use to save every bit of resources. Every games involve with RNG (Random numbers generator) and it isn't a problem. However, Tharsis describes a dire situation, and they just go mad.
