Walkthrough (Part 1)
If you're stuck while exploring the Island and don't know what to do next, check below - here's a step by step guide of how to beat The Artist!

Exploring The Beach

1. Walk forward and read the note on the Beach.
2. Remember how it tells you to examine the ship and "look to" the palm trees.
3. Look at the ship now while you're here.
4. Examine each segment of the ship to find three roman numerals, one on each segment.
5. Note the gated door beside the barrels and boxes. It has a five-color lock that you don't have the info to open yet.
6. There is a locked chest sitting near the palm trees. It does not have a keyhole, and appears to be jammed. You will open this chest much later.
6. Go up the slope to the Plaza.

Exploring The Plaza

1. The Plaza has a strange stone sculpture in the center. It's identical to the stone in the bay. This is important.
2. Press the button on the sculpture to see what happens. It doesn't do anything now, but it does something important later, once you give it power.
3. Convert the roman numerals you found on the ship to the numbers on the Lighthouse door. Each number must match the segment of the ship you found it on, depicted above the slot.
4. The code is 869.

Exploring The Lighthouse

1. Notice the glyph on the right hand wall and write it down for later.
2. Notice the locked door with a strange symbol on it to your right. You will be able to use this symbol later.
3. Climb the ladder and emerge at the top of the Lighthouse. Look down and examine the teal book. There are four pictures of the rock in the bay facing different directions and one black, underexposed photograph. Write down the shapes and order for later.
4. Try flipping the golden switch in the Lighthouse and pressing the buttons. They won't do anything yet - you will need to power the Lighthouse to use it. Descend the ladder for now.

Exploring The Campsite

1. Examine the area around the stump and take note of the colored flower nearby.
2. Look at the campfire closely. The stones around the campfire react to your touch and depress into the ground. After pressing all of them, they will bounce back up. You need to input the correct sequence into the campfire stones to make something happen, but you don't know it yet. Let's move on for now.
3. Look beneath the log to find a yellow book. It describes each variety of plant on the island and contains a photo of each. Some photos have a shape beneath them. This is important; write down which shape goes with which variety of plant for later.

Exploring The Cliffs

1. Pass through the cave and notice the locked gate to your right. There is a strange circular device inside. You can't open this now but will find the combination later.
2. Come outside and look at the telescope in front of you. There is a small, three digit display in the base. You can use this in combination with turning the telescope to learn the numbers used on the doors and gates across the island.
3. Look through the telescope on the pedestal by clicking on the small viewing lens. The vision is obscured by an angled metal bar. Remember the note you found on the Beach that talked about looking at the palm trees?
4. The number in the base of the telescope is the horizontal angle where the telescope is pointing. If you line up the metal bar with the only visible palm tree on the beach, you will recieve the code to unlock the Cabin.
5. The code is 132.

Exploring The Cabin

1. Enter the Cabin and read the journal on the table. Take note of a few things - when an entry number is accompanied with a capital letter, and a clue later in the book which tells you to open the generator door in the cave by counting the groupings of Strobus trees on the island from smallest to largest.
2. There is a paint palette on the table that you can pick up. You will need this later - leave it on the table for now.
3. There is a hatch on the floor that is currently shut. You will be able to open this in a moment.
4. Look at the small table beside the bed. Take note of another glyph there.
5. Look inside the stove and notice the small square button. What else is oddly square on the island?

Exploring The Campsite 2

1. Examine the yellow book beneath the log again. There are two types of pine trees on the island that were mentioned in the book. Remember to only count the Strobus trees, which are the lightest of the pair.
2. Examine the trees around the forest and count the number of Strobus trees in each grouping. It may help to examine the groupings from the top of the Lighthouse.
3. While exploring the trees, look for another glyph to take note of.
3. Pick up the square bucket from beside the Campsite.

Exploring The Cherry Trees

1. Place the square bucket on the square well.
2. The water will drain. Push the square button that appears in the water.
3. The stove hatch in the Cabin will open, allowing you to access the square button inside.
4. Take note of the colored flower behind the well.

Exploring The Cave

1. Enter the number of Strobus trees in their groupings from smallest to largest on the gate in the cave.
2. The code is 356.
3. Descend to the Generator device and press on the golden arrows above each slot. They will illuminate different symbols above. Each of these symbols represents a place on the island.
4. You can only power one area of the island at once.
5. From left to right, these areas are the lighthouse, the rock controller, the greenhouse, and the pump room.
6. Set the power to the Greenhouse by moving the lever second from the right for now.

Exploring The Cabin 2

1. Look in the stove and press the square button. It will open the hatch on the floor behind you.
2. Descend the ladder and take note of the glyph on the wall to your left.

Walkthrough (Part 2)
Exploring The Greenhouse

1. Walk up to the Greenhouse door and it will slide open. Walk inside and read the green book on the table to your right.
2. It outlines the process of making the five paints, which you will need to complete the painting and escape the island. Turn the page and examine the symbol.
3. This represents the tent and dead log by the campsite, and the lines seem to resemble another pattern somewhere else on the island...
4. These lines match with the other symbol you saw inside the Lighthouse. Together, you know the points of the symbol are represented by each rock around the campfire.
5. You need to recreate this symbol on the campfire by connecting the dots - but the pattern can begin anywhere, so where should you start?
6. Put the book back down and plant each of the five seed bags in their appropriate planters to the left. You won't be able to water them until you fill the pump.
7. Power the pump and flip the blue switch on. This will toggle the hatch outside the Greenhouse allowing you to charge the water in the resevoir.
8. Press the button on the bunsen burner now. The burner only works when the Greenhouse is powered and the pump is switched on.
9. You can mess around with the ingredients but you will not be able to complete the sequence until you have grown and crushed the flower petals. You will need to fill the pump now.

Exploring The Campsite 3

1. Return to the campsite and stand with the dead log behind you and the tent to your left, as the symbol in green book was facing.
2. The burned logs in the center of the campfire form an arrow pointing to the rock where you must start the pattern.
3. You must enter the pattern starting with the top left rock, then moving to the bottom left, then middle/bottom left, then middle/bottom right, then bottom right, then top right, then middle/top right, and finally middle/top left. Doing this pattern in reverse will not work. If you make a mistake, press down all the stones to reset.
4. The door in the Lighthouse will open, allowing you to access the rock control console and the rock in the bay.
5. Explore the area to find a colored flower behind a nearby rock formation.
6. Return to the Generator and power the rock console now by moving the lever to illuminate the arch symbol.

Exploring The Bluffs

1. Outside the door, you will see another glyph to your left. Take note of it.
2. Approach the crystal to your left and spot the red flower hidden behind it. Take note of this now.
3. Power the console with the gold lever. You can use this console to rotate the rock in the bay. Turn the rock so the slope faces you.
4. Walk up the slope of the rock and flip the small blue switch on the porthole. It will open the porthople so the beam from the Lighthouse can pass through the rock.
5. Return to the console and rotate the rock so the open porthole faces the Lighthouse. Remember this angle for later.

Exploring The Plaza 2

1. Look at the sculpture in the center of the plaza. When you rotate the rock in the bay, the sculpture rock turns to face the same direction.
2. Now that you've powered the rock console, you can operate the button here. Press it to reveal a symbol in the face of the idol the sculpture rock is facing.
3. You must turn the rock to face each idol by turning the rock in the bay with the console. Each idol has a different symbol that represents a landmark somewhere on the island in the general direction of that idol.
4. Facing the button, the symbol ahead represents a rock formation by the campsite, the symbol to your right represents the crystal on the bluffs, the symbol behind you represents the well by the cherry trees, and the symbol to yout left represents the stump in the forest.
5. Visit each of these landmarks and take note of the colored flower that sits nearby, if you haven't already. The log has a yellow flower, the rocks have a white flower, the well has a blue flower, and the crystal has a red flower.
6. Remember the book you found in the Lighthouse? It depicts the rock in the bay facing in a series of specific directions. Now, you can turn the rock to face these directions as observed from the rock control console.
7. Turn the rock to face each direction as depicted in the teal book. From beginning to end, the rock must face right (crystal symbol), back (well symbol), up (rock formation symbol), empty (no symbol), and left (stump symbol). Paired with the flower at each landmark, these five symbols reveal the code for the five-color lock on the beach.
8. The code is red, blue, white, black, yellow.
9. Set the rock back to the position you recorded earlier, with the open porthole facing the lighthouse.

Exploring The Beach 2

1. Power the pump at the Generator by moving the lever to the far right position.
2. Return to the beach and approach the five-color lock on the gate.
3. Use the code you discovered with the pillars at the plaza to open the gate.
4. Descend to the pump room and take note of a final glyph on the wall to your right. You should have a total of six glyphs recorded now.
5. Switch on the pump with the golden switch and turn the red wheel to fill the pump with water.
6. Once the pump is full, pull the red switch to shoot the water up and out towards the Greenhouse. If you pull the switch too early, you will need to refill the pump and try again. Wait for the pump to fill before pulling the switch.

Exploring The Lighthouse 2

1. Transfer power from the rock to the Lighthouse at the generator by moving the lever all the way to the left.
2. Return to the lighthouse and climb the ladder. Flip the switch at the top to start the beam.
3. Angle the beam at the open porthole below by pressing the large arrow buttons.
4. Once you have connected the beam, it will shoot through the rock at the Greenhouse. Since you correctly opened the port in the Greenhouse and left the blue lever on, you will charge the water in the resevoir, changing it from a dark blue to a light teal color.
Walkthrough (Part 3)
Exploring The Greenhouse 2

1. Return power to the Greenhouse at the generator and head back to the Greenhouse through the hatch in the Cabin floor.
2. Turn on the pump and turn the wheel, pressurizing the tank, then flip the red switch. The flowers will instantly grow.
3. Harvest each flower individually and grind their petals with the mortar and pestle, reducing them to a fine dust. Each of the five jars will fill with dust as you do this for use in the transfiguration sequence.
4. You must correctly combine the jars with the bottles and crushed petals to produce each of the five paints, using the steps outlined in the transfiguration book. To do this, you must break the cypher using the plant titles in the yellow book by the campsite accompanied by the colored shapes below the photo of that plant.
5. The first letter of the full name of each plant is the first column in the cypher. To produce each paint, you must mix the appropriate bottle, jar, and petal dust in the bunsen bowl then ignite the burner.
6. To create the red paint, mix the crushed red dust, the square bottle, and the square jar whose added colors make orange together (red and yellow).
7. To create the blue paint, mix the crushed blue dust, the circular bottle, and the square jar whose added colors make purple together (red and blue).
8. To create the yellow paint, mix the crushed yellow dust, the triangular bottle, and the square jar whose added colors make green together (yellow and blue).
9. To create the white paint, mix the crushed white dust and the diamond bottle together.
10. To create the black paint, mix the crushed black dust and the tall rectangular bottle together.
11. Return to the Cabin and pick up the palette from the table. Apply each paint to the palette by clicking on each full paint jar until the palette is full.
12. Now that you've loaded the palette with paint, you still need to figure out what to paint on the canvas to get back home...

Exploring The Plaza 3

1. This is when the glyphs you have been collecting come in handy. Together, the glyphs provide vital information that will help you decode the grid in the Plaza.
2. The glyphs depict the stones in the Plaza; the dot and two dashes at the top of each glyph represent the rock and two fences at the top of the Plaza closest to the edge.
3. With the knowledge from the glyphs, you can deduce that the letters A to H run across the top, and 1 to 8 from top to bottom. Using this, you can create a letter/number grid that represents the grid in the Plaza.
4. Remembering the letter/number entries you recorded from the journal in the Cabin, enter this six stone code in with the stones by standing on them until they descend. If you make a mistake, stand on the other five activatable stones to reset. The pillars and sculpture are empty spaces in the grid.
5. The code is A1, E3, B7, C4, G1, H6.

Exploring The Beach 3

1. Go to the open chest and read the blue book inside.
2. Remember to flip to the second page of the book.

Exploring The Cabin 3

1. Return to the cabin and pick up your loaded palette from the table.
2. Go outside the Cabin to the easel on the edge of the cliff.
3. With knowledge from the blue book, you can now decide on a picture to paint. Click on the easel and select a photo on the canvas to paint it and end the game.
4. Congratulations, you have finished The Artist! Select the gallery photograph for a teaser of what's coming next.

I hope you enjoyed the game!
