Introduction
Hello I want to share the enhancements I made with Reshade 3.0 to Shadowrun Chronicles Boston Lockdown.

First let me say "Thank You" to the guys at https://reshade.me/.
Second, this guide will work for most every game that runs with Direct X 9,10,11 (Direct X8 requires a bit of tweaking bit it will work.).

WARNING: If you use too much effects you will get FPS drops.
If your PC is not powerfull enough you can have problems with this.

Before we continue here are some screenshots of my character with Reshade Off and On.

Off:

On:

Notice where it's ON the image is a bit sharper and the colors are more vibrant.
I used only subtle enhancements but you can go way above and really customize your effect.
Setup Reshade 3.0 with Boston Lockdown
First things first you need to get Reshade from https://reshade.me/.
After you download it put the executable anywhere it won't effect the installation.

Shadowrun Chronicles runs on Direct X9 so we need to know that wnen you install Reshade.

Let's Go:

1. Run Reshade
2. You get this screen:

3. Select the game executable found in your Steam\steamapps\common\ShadowrunChronicles

4. Since we know that we use Direct X9 - click on it. Click even if it's already selected and you need to get the screen askin you to download the shaders.

5. After the shaders are downloaded you will get this screen:

Uncheck all effects.

IMPORTANT: You DON'T need all effects. Even if you have monster PC you don't.
If you install all your have major FPS drop and the game will still look ugly. Some effects have diffrent purposes for what we hope to get here.

6. Select the effect you want:

I chose a small amount of effects to enhance the sharpnes and colors/saturation/vibrance of the game. Feel free to experiment but keep in mind the effects need to compile everytime you start or ALT+TAB the game. So keeping the list small will ensure your game does not spend too much time loading effects you don't need or don't use. It will be a waste of time.

7. And with that the installation is finished.

Now we can proceed In-game to configure the effects themselves.
Configure Reshade In-Game
So we done with the installation and it's time to see if it works and configure it to your/our liking.

When you start the game - if you get this screen with the Reshade 3.0 gray header you know that the installation worked.

If you don't see this - then your installation was not ok and you need to try again.

IMPORTANT: The camera in the game and the configuration menu don't play well.
When you open the configuration menu in-game the camera might start moving in one direction and will keep moving until you close the Reshade configuration menu.

To open the Reshade configuration menu press SHIFT+F2. You can open this menu at any point in the game not just the launcher but ingame the camera will freak out.

For that reason I preffer setting up in the launcher.

1. Press SHIFT+F2 and you will get the Reshade greeting

2. You need to make a configuration file (.ini). Just click the + button and type a name. Press ENTER when happy with the name.

3. Continue along with the tutorial (or just skip it and click continue until finished)

4. Click on SETTINGS in the top. Check the "Effects" and Textures" paths if they are setup correctly.

If your folders are already set correctly you can skip the next step.

5. Fix folders if not pointing to the right locations.

Put the folders in the SETTINGS menu respectivly for Effects and Textures.

COPY & PASTE works for this perfectly.

After you set the folders go back to HOME and click Reload

If you setup your paths correctly now you will see the loaded effects on top (green box) and their settings (blue box).

6. Cick on the effect you want to enable in the green box and then you can change it's settings in the blue box.

BE CAREFUL: Wrong settings can mess up the image. I only change the STRENGHT of the effects. Feel free to experiment and remember the original values since there is NO Default button.

Setup a TOGGLE KEY so you can quickly enable/disable the effects so you can see the diffrence.

And you are done! From this point on you just tweak what you want.
Final toughts
Phew!! Took some time but it's worth it.

I also tried the effects with HDR and Bloom installed. I found them to make the game too dark or too bright and some colors were overblown and texture details were lost.

For that reason I ommited them from this guide.
Feel free to reinstall Reshade and try diffrent setups if you want. You can add the effects you want the same way as mentioned above.

IN CLOSING:

Reshade is an awesome program/shader suite (https://reshade.me/) that can bring life to an older game. I use it on most of my games that need some graphical improvement.

I think Shadowrun Chronicles Boston Lockdown is a great game that didn't get the score it really deserved and I hope this guide can bring atleast a bit of life back into it.

If anyone have trouble making Reshade work feel free to ask or refer to their site.
UH OH!! I messed up! I want to remove Reshade.
In case you mees up something or want to remove just delete the reshade-shaders folder and delete the d3d9.dll in the folder of Shadowrun.exe.

And you can allways VERIFY CACHE at anytime. :)

Adding some ingo: When adding new effects you can just paste them in the Shaders folder and they will be loaded.
