Gameplay basics
Synopsis: This game right at the beginning even at the tutorial level threw you at your bedroom a few hours past midnight with only a list of mouse and keyboard buttons or gamepad stick movement and buttons to press, without a single written or spoken dialogue tip on how to survive through the night. Chances are, one of the teddy bears will eventually come right up to your bedside and frighten you to death if you didn't do certain things or overdid something. Daddy! Mummy! My teddy bears all ganged up on me and killed me. My anxiety level wasn't even close to 100! What is going on!? Q_Q

This guide will explain the mechanics of the game in further detail. The rest of the guide will cover the list of achievements and how to survive all 9 nights in the game and reach the ending.

List of actions

Look ahead: The default action you will take when you are not looking anywhere. If the teddy bear with the heart decides to approach your bed at the front, you need to keep looking at this direction with flashlight turned on to stop it from advancing further.

Look behind: RB on gamepad/Q on keyboard. Hardly used at all. Not really needed since you will be facing the wall, it doesn't reduce your anxiety and you will allow the teddy bear with the heart to advance to your bed by not keeping your eye on the bear.

Look left: Analog stick left on gamepad/A on keyboard. The most common direction you will need to look throughout every night since you will often keep the teddy bear with the heart from advancing to your bed which always spawn on your left and it also enables you to keep watch on your digital clock until dawn comes.

Look right: Analog stick right on gamepad/D on keyboard. Hardly used at all. Not really needed since it doesn't reduce your anxiety, enables the teddy bear with the heart to advance to your bed and there are audio cues to tell you to turn on your music box when the other teddy bears decide to appear from this direction.

Looking under bed: Analog stick down on gamepad/S on keyboard. Will be used often since it reduces your anxiety by around 20 and has a short viewing animation which will allow you to resume keeping your eye on the teddy bear with the heart.

Looking above bed: Analog stick up on gamepad/W on keyboard. Also used fairly often since it reduces your anxiety by around 40, has a medium length viewing animation and also allow you to keep your eye partially on the teddy bear with the heart while it is at your left side.

Turning on porch lights: Button Y on gamepad/Space Bar on keyboard. Although it reduces your anxiety the most by around 50 and keeps the porch illuminated which could possibly prevent the teddy bear with the bear traps from advancing for a limited time, it has a long viewing animation, it doesn't stop the teddy bear with the bear traps entirely and is almost certain to enable the teddy bear with the heart to advance one position towards your bed. Use it only as a last resort when your anxiety is above 80 or so.

Turning on flashlight: Button X on gamepad/F on keyboard. Has a specific use to prevent the teddy bear with the heart from advancing further if it goes to the front of your bed where there is no lighting at all. However, your flashlight battery is limited. Use it only when the teddy bear has reached the darkened area in front of your bed and you are facing it.

Turning on music box: Button A on gamepad/LMB on mouse. Your music box is your best friend, toy and playmate. Use it throughout the night whenever possible as it stops your anxiety from climbing when you play the music box.

Rewinding music box: Button B on gamepad/RMB on mouse. Since your music box is your best friend and you need to use it throughout the night, you will also need to rewind it all the time whenever possible to prevent your music box from running out of stored energy. You will also need to keep your music box wound up to play for sufficient duration during near scare situations when the sinister background music is playing and the piano note is about to sound.
Achievement guide with tips
Action achievements

Most of the achievements listed here are self-explanatory and can be unlocked by just carrying out that action repeatedly until the achievement is unlocked. Note that the achievement progress counter will reset if you die or survive the night and will have to carry out that set of action within the defined number of times all over again to qualify for the achievement.

Let there be a light Light every corner with torchlight

Turn on your flashlight, look fully to your left, right and back, check below and above the bed and turn on the electric light.

Electric company friend Turn on external light 10 times

Tap the button to turn on the porch lights 10 times.

For sure, there is noone there Check upper bed 10 times

Tap the button/move the analog stick to check above the bed 10 times.

Music box fan Crank the music box 10 times

Tap the run music box button 10 times or let it play for a long duration and tap the wind music box button 10 times.

Last straw Use music box in the last moment for 5 times

An ambiguous achievement which took me a while to figure out since there are many possible last moments in this game. Just keep looking around, checking above/under bed and turning on porch lights, keeping your music box with sufficient stored energy until any of the 3 teddy bears are right at your bedside or onto your bed then quickly tap the run music box button 5 times before the inevitable jump scare.

Scared to death Be scared 5 times

Due to the random and unpredictable possible approaches any of the 3 teddy bears may take to give you the jump scare, you will probably get it while attempting one of the level completion achievements. If you somehow manage to get all the storyline and level completion achievements listed in the next section without getting this achievement, just start at any level, allow your anxiety to climb up to 101 and repeat 4 times.

Most nights can be survived if you keep watching the teddy bear on the left, playing and rewinding your music box all the time throughout, managing your anxiety levels well and lower your anxiety only sparingly throughout. If you happen to die, just retry the level, the teddy bears might possibly spawn somewhere else and take different approaches which could make your night easier to survive.

Consider having headphones or speakers with sound turned on at a volume you can hear clearly. If the game is a bit scary, consider playing this game during mornings or afternoons when the weather is clear. There are both subtle and obvious audio cues in this game that will give you an indicator of the threat level and proximity. When you hear rainfall with thunderstorm in the game, your anxiety will climb faster than on clear windy nights. Also, when you hear the sinister music being played with a sudden loud piano note, make sure to play your music box at the sound of the piano note. It means the bear with the bear trap or the black bear under your bed is right at your bedside and will likely jump scare you in the next few moments unless you play your music box. Try not to look away from your left to lower your anxiety unless absolutely necessary whenever you hear rain with thunderstorm, sinister music, noises, laughter or ominous creaking sounds. You might suddenly get a teddy bear right at your bedside while you are shifting your view around and get the jump scare that could happen when you return to your bed.

Non-missable storyline achievement that is automatically awarded at the beginning of level 5 after the protagonist finishes speaking to herself. =.=
