The Escapists is a puzzle role-playing video game played from a top-down perspective.
As a player you assume the role of an inmate whose goal is, naturally, to escape prison.
You acquire tools around the prison by theft or you can purchase from and do favors for fellow inmates to gain money and items - basic bartering.
Some common favors include beating someone up (inmate and guard) as well as collecting an item from another cell.
While trying to break out, you still have to follow daily inmate routines like showers, meals, roll call, and so on - you don't want a guard to catch you out of line.
There are also random searches, so if you have contraband in your cell you're in deep poopies -if caught you'll go to solitary and your progress for escaping is reset
