Introduction
This is a short, no-frills guide on common issues people have had with Nights of Azure. It will be updated if more issues, and their solutions, pop up.
Setting higher resolutions than 1080/ Widescreen resolution
You can easily make the resolution go higher than 1080p without adverse effects on the game. Before doing so however, please bind your controller and disable Depth of Field first. Entering the settings menu will reset these changes to default which will require a repeat.

To set higher resolutions:
*Hit Windowkey+R and type 'regedit' (without the '') into the window. This will open open up the registry editor.
*Search (Ctrl+F) for KoeiTecmo
*Select under it on the left folder viewer.
*Select the Nights of Azure that drops down from KoeiTecmo
*Select Settings in that folder
*In the right panel, you'll see five or six listings.
*Right click the third one, 'device', and select modify from the menu.
*Under values, you'll probably see a string of numbers like "1920,1080,60,87"
*The first two digits are our resolution, change them to what you like. The first is horizontal resolution and the second is verticle. For instance, mine is now "2560,1440,60,87"
*If you forgot to disable Depth of Field in the launcher, select the 'dof' entry in the registry and change the number from '1' to '0'.
*Save and quit, and you're done. The game will run in that resolution now.

Others have successfully tested widescreen resolutions and they seem to work well.

Unable to pickup items
The game doesn't lock to 60 FPS but exceeding 60 FPS causes quirks (may include weird hair animations, unable to pick up items). Simply lower your monitor's refresh rate to 60, or set in your graphics application (Geforce Experience for Nvidia, Catalyst for AMD) menu to run the game at only 60, and you will pick up items normally.
Controller button prompts wrong/ Weird Camera/ Keybinds
The game does not default to an Xbox 360 controller layout despite using Xbox 360 button prompts. To fix this, simply close the game (if running), and open the launcher. Select 'Settings'.

Under settings simply click on the first box next to the button symbol and hit the correct button on your controller. It will automatically go to the next, easily allowing you to configure the entire controller. After you are done configuring the buttons you will notice two more boxes on the right of the screen that will let you calibrate the joysticks. One is for movement (left), other is for camera (right).

After this, you're done! While this may seem a bit annoying to have to do, you only need to do it once, and it allows the game to work with nearly any controller.

You cannot rebind keyboard buttons this way. Instead, you're stuck using a program to convert keyboard input to controller input. Once you find one (such as Joy2Key), simply bind the controls to your liking..
Can't configure keybinds while using Steam Wrapper
"To fix DS4 problems while using Steam Wrapper for it, first enter Big Picture mode, open Library, select "Nights of Azure", then "Manage Game", then "Controller Options" and disable "Use Steam Configuration for Non-Steam Controllers". This will disable Steam's Wrapper just for this game and run it on Direct Input.

Now open the Launcher, select Settings and you will be able to properly select most buttons without the closing the window and stuff." ~MBA
Windows 7 - Game crashes on startup/ Extreme stuttering
If these issues happen and you're using Windows 7 then it's likely due to a missing update. Simply go into Windows update and install KB2670838 x64 and this should resolve (Direct link here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36805 ). On its release KB2670838 x64 did cause Direct X problems but those have been resolved. Several titles now rely on this update to function.

If this is already installed, go to the next session and download the Visual Basics Redist.
Non-Windows 7 Crashes/Stuttering. Very high CPU usage
This game requires the Visual C++ redistributableto run. If it crashes as soon as you click on the game name, just go here; https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=30679 and install it.

If there's still issues, it could be because the game has defaulted to onboard graphics over your dedicated graphics. Simply open up (Catalyst for AMD, Geforce Experience for Nvidia) and set the program to use the correct graphics card.
Intel CPUs (especially i7s): High heat, cpu usage, stutters
UPDATE: This was patched and the first thing you should attempt is updating Nights of Azure. It should resolve the issue. Old instructions left below.

It seems the game, when used with an i7, tends to gobble up an excessive amount of CPU power This seems related to a quirk with its use of hyperthreading. If you notice excessive heat or stuttering with your intel CPU, simply open up task manager and set the program's affinity to 1 or 2. This will limit it to two threads and solve the problem until a more acceptable solution is patched in.

If you'd like to avoid doing this every time you start up, you may use something like Process Priority Saver ( http://www.prnwatch.com/prio/ ) to set affinities and have it remembered. It's honestly just a useful utility to keep around for these sort of quirks.
Exiting the game
Unfortunately they did not add a proper 'exit game' button to the title or options menu. Instead, just hit Alt+F4 to end the process.

necroing the bejebus out of this, but the additional two numbers in the display area after the res is likely the refresh rate (60) and I'm guessing the FOV (87)

Thanks for the explanation, I didn't catch that you could set the Max Frame Rate in Nvidia Control Panel! I've deleted my previous post now to avoid confusion.

Rivatuner has been dead for years now and best avoided. Nvidia Control panel allows you to set a max frame-rate under manage 3D settings. Then select Nights of Azure/add it.

Sorry for necro-ing the thread.

I tried looking up KoeiTecmo in Registry Edit like said above, but didn't find any folder (based on another thread, I suppose the folder should be in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\KoeiTecmo cmiiw).

The search result returned entirely other folder which doesn't have anything related to screen resolution. :lunar2019deadpanpig:

I kinda expected you to write it on your words, cause I wrote it fast and I since I'm no native English speaker, I couldn't find a better way to express what I wanted to say on some parts.

Though I'm not sure if Steam Wrapper will be a good keyword, because most people don't know it. I would recommend inserting a (Dual Shock 4/non X-Input gamepad)" to the title, maybe as a prefix to make it easier to spot

Alright, well! Did add your post there. Hope it'll help someone with a similar issue. Thanks again. :)

That's not really the problem, the wrapper works properly, all buttons work, but none of the directionals work, I had to move to the options menu using the keyboard, but could use the controller for the button input.

On the launcher the same problem, some of the buttons will trigger ok, the analog configuration won't work, you can hold the buttons in any way and it will never trigger. By disabling the DS4 wrapper only for the game I was able to make everything work, and fix this game while not messing with any others.

@MBA: Thanks for the post, MBA, I wasn't even aware that there was a steamwrapper for PS4 controllers now. What I imagine is happening is that the wrapper isn't kicking in properly in the setup launcher. I imagine similar issues may occur with games that use launchers as well.

I'll add that if I remember how.
