The Typhoon was the answer to a growing request: A fighter that was agile in space and atmosphere, but durable enough to take a fight and come back home. Based on trials, the design hit the mark. Up to eight can fit within the Trebuchet-class Interdictor's flight deck, and were purpose built for military applications.

However, a growing number of independent pilots have started using Typhoons as their personal craft of choice.
