Let's be honest. The Nimble Writer default themes are boring, bland, and uninspiring. Seriously. If you're writing about, lets say, rainbows and ponies, you don't want to have a boring dark gray background behind your wall of cheerful text. So you use the Steam Workshop and find a beautiful background. It fits the theme of your story and you like it! You subscribe to the add-on and... nothing. It downloads and nothing changes. Where is your theme?

This section of the guide may not apply to your.

Everyone has their own preferences and tastes. You could be writing about unicorns and lollipops and want a bright and vibrant theme. Or you could want a black theme that has graphics going through it, or the vast and mysterious expanse of space. It all boils down to your preference.

For the sake of this guide, I chose to use Dark Theme: Irislake by Sonmi.




In order to download your new theme, click the Subscribe button and your new theme will download. Depending on what Workshop item you download, you may have to restart Nimble Writer.

Now that you have your new theme, let's continue.

This section of the guide is where I teach you have to change your theme.

Hover your mouse to the top of Nimble Writer and click on the Gear (for settings).



The pop up menu should look like this;



You want to be on the very first tab; Interface. This is where you can change the theme and/or edit existing themes.



Then you can click on the Theme drop down menu.



Click on the theme you would like to use and click Apply. Immediately after clicking apply, you should see the background of Nimble Writer change.



There you have it! You have just successfully changed your theme. Now you can write with Nimble Writer customized to your liking. You can modify the theme (i.e the font, colors, etc) to your liking in the same Interface tab in the Settings.

You can have multiple themes downloaded at once so you can switch out as you please.
