1. Basic Callouts.
-Attacking and Defending

When attacking or defending a position, a friendly callout is always nice. If you see enemies on the left, let your team know they are on the left. If you see enemies on the right, you let your team know they are on the right.

You understand what I'm getting to, basic information.

An defensive example: "Hey guys, I see an american moving into the town to the left."

An attacking example: "I see three on the left and one on the right, lets attack the right."

(Know that mics are just better versions of keyboards. If you go down, make sure to callout where you were shot from or where you think you were shot from.)

-Using the microphone.

The default keys for ingame voice are K (team comms) and L (all comms).

Lets get one thing straight, don't spam your mic or be an idiot. Your team wants to win too.

You have the advantage over the people without mics, make sure you inform your team more than the people without mics. It'll save them alot of time and blood.

-The "Whoops"

The common misthrown grenade, riflegrenade or team kill happens quite frequently in DoW.

Make sure you let the people you killed or shot that you are sorry and explain yourself. Don't be overly remorseful on the subject, get over it and keep the morale up.

(Unless you want to make another enemy!)

2. Spotting and Identifying targets.
-What are you looking for?
Movement. When the human eye looks at an area, it is harder to see movement still. So, make sure you scan the area to spot people out easier. Again, this is my theory and way to racking up the wins.

-Identifying friend from foe

(Try to not get these two mixed up)

This is your typical Ameri-bro or Svein, depending on how you look at it.

This is your "Defender of Deutschland" or Kraut, depending on how you look at it.

-Identifying Weapons
The Allied and Axis powers have a diverse arsenal to work with. Therefore, you need to understand who is shooting what gun. Here is a video provided by Jarek4Gaming on the sounds of each weapon in Days of War.

-Muzzle-flash
In dark, rainy and foggy maps, you may not be able to see the enemy at all. When he fire, you're able to work out atleast where he is and kill him. To not reveal your muzzle flash, try to be far enough into cover to shield your muzzle flash from the enemy.

Preview of an enemy hidden:

-Shadows
Depending on your graphical setting this may come in handy. When approaching a corner, the enemy could be silhouetted by a light from around the corner. This is a handy trick into getting the drop on your foe. Aswell as that, spots of lighting that are discolored, or don't match will most likely be an enemy's shadow. Make you're able to discern that it is in fact an enemy by scanning first.

-Look for repetitive spots
By this, I mean there are couple of spots you see "everyone" using to take down multiple people. Always check these spots first, pre-fire (to pre-shoot at a position) them if you must to insure that your team is able to push.

-Jude's Law
That's what I like to call it. If you can make every enemy in the map come into your field of view, you're doing this right. By taking angles, you are able to limit your visiblility to them, thus making them have to peek you.

Example of holding an angle:

Having the enemy enter your fov:

3. Movement and Cover
-Movement basics

Lets get started, standing up makes you the most visible. By running you're going to be picked up the fastest by your enemies.Try to slow down your gameplay and make adjustments when you believe you're over extending. I know it's fun and faster to get around the map by sprinting, but sometimes taking it slow is better.

-Identifying Cover

Currently Days of War DOES NOT have cover you can shoot through.

-Patience

This is the most valuable skill most people lack. Breaking cover is risky, and so is advancing. I'm not saying you should not advace, rather to not run into a suppression of fire. If you're defending, let the enemy come to you. Simple as that. On the other hand, when attacking you should communicate with your team and be patient with your assault. Great things don't happen when you relentlessly throw your life away.

-Proning and why it will save you

Proning has its place in most every shooter game. It is the slowest form of movement, but can be the most effective. In this position, your weapons have the least amount of recoil. Also, you have the upper hand in visibility. With this information, I must ask you this question. When a smoke is popped, do you spray into it at chest level? If you do, then proning will be your weakness. No one aims lower than the chest in Days of War so far. I suggest you prone any time you can to catch your enemy off guard.

-Blending in

On maps like Omaha and Carentan, the visiblity can completely be cut off on both teams by hiding in certain spots. This can lead to you having the jump on your enemy, or vise versa. I suggest you experiment on what spots comfort your type of playstyle.

-Avoid the mistakes of sillhouetting

As I said in the section above, shadows and sillhouettes are the death of you in this game. Instead of standing in the middle of the window on a map like Carentan, instead take an angle that makes your enemy enter your fov. (Explained in Section 2 "Jude's Law") Make sure also, stand AWAY from the windows to avoid your gun sticking through the window or opening.

DO NOT DO THIS

In both of these pictures, you're not only exposing your body to the enemy, but your gun aswell! BACK UP FROM THOSE WINDOWS!

DO THIS

In these picutres, I show you the correct procedure for holding angles and their benefits.

This shows the enemies line of sight and field of view towards a certain area.

This shows how the ability of limiting your fov making you invisible to the enemy.

4. Assaulting and Room Clearing
-Throwing Smoke
It's always good to have an Assault member on your team to smoke off key objectives. This greatly helps your team's ability to move up and capture an objective.

When throwing your smoke, do not smoke your team. Please, please, please.. throw your smokes toward the enemies position. This limits their sight, and not your teams. If you were to throw a short smoke, the enemy has the upper hand when you come out the other side.

Good Smoke Examples:

In this picture, i'm limiting them enemy teams line of sight and my own so we are able to push up to the town.

In this picture, I'm cutting off the enemies line of sight, forcing them to peak out of the smoke into my field of view.

-A forward assault is not always the option

Avoid easy to hold choke points

Sometimes, taking alternative routes and cutting through the enemies lines can be the key to victory. To make the enemy believe their allies are around them is their biggest mistake. If you can attempt to stay quite and let enemies pass you may have just got the upper hand. This enables you to take out a larger quanity or a vital targets like an machine gunner pinning down your team or a sniper taking out numerous amounts of allies.

-Listen

Listen, take in your surrondings, footsteps and weapons discharged are your bestfriends. Use this to surprise your enemy and gain the upper hand in combat.

-DON'T be afraid to melee

If you know an enemies coming and are not confident enough to kill them with your weapon, wip out your knife/shovel. Your probably thinking, "Why the HELL am I taking out a shovel on a battlefield?" Currently the knife/shovel has one of the largest hitboxes against players in the game, which can cause an easy one-shot kill scenario. This is a risky play if there are more than one enemy, I suggest using it ONLY if you are in direct need of a relief.

-"Slicing the Cheese" or "Cutting the Pie"

This technic is rather complicated to explain. This maneuver is to maximize your distance from a corner while minimizing your exposer to a potential threat. While using this technique to clear rooms, you will able to literally see your enemy before he sees you.

You continue this manuever until you have cleared both sides of the room for entry.

Aha! There's your target. He can't see you, but you can see his gear hanging out. You have the upper hand now!
