Setting up your game
First off go and delete your Counter Strike Global Offensive Folder it can be located in C:\Program
Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive. Once you do this go into
your Steam Library and right click on CSGO, click Properties and Verify Game Cache. This will
redownload the folder. You do this because you will want a fresh start. Now what you want to do is go
into the game and go into audio settings and turn Music Volume to 0. You also want to change the
audio method to Headphones if you are using Headphones which you should be. You also want to
adjust your Crosshair to how you like and adjust your sensitivity. If you don't know what sensitivity to
use I have a guide for that. You want to make an autoexec.cfg file. You can use the Netcode Illuminati
one and change it to suit you best. It can be found on their site.
First you want to go into the autoexec and change the sensitivity to the one you normally use. Put this
in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg and
type exec autoexec.cfg at the bottom of your config.cfg located in C:\Program Files
(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg Also you can go into your
Steam Library, right click Counter Strike: Global Offensive and hit properties, then Launch Options.
Type -novid -threads (Number of CPU cores you have) For Ex: -threads 4 -refresh (The Hz of your
Monitor) -freq (The refresh rate aka Hz of your Monitor) and -high (to set high priority in task manager.)
Mouse Setup
Next click the windows start button and search "mouse" You want to click on the "Pointer Options" tab.
Set the "Pointer Speed to 6 and turn off "Enhance Pointer Precision" You do this to remove mouse
acceleration which you will want to do to get consistent aim. If you have a gaming mouse like a
Steelseries or Razer you might be able to go into your mouse software and remove acceleration. For
your DPI I recommend somewhere between 400-1000 but you can use whatever you want. For your
sensitivity you are going to want to be able to do at least a 180 when moving your mouse from one side
of your mouse pad to the other.
Movement
A big part of this game is Movement. One of the biggest thing is mastering Stutter Stepping there are many tutorials on this on youtube but basically you want to strafe to one side and then once you let goof that button you tap the opposite strafe key. For example you will hold D to strafe right and let go and right as you let go quickly tap A. This will make you more accurate as you are less accurate when you are moving so you want to master this technique so you stop moving faster and make accurate shots. Bunny hopping is something that is not important to learn as it is hard and really doesn't work well in csgo as compared to older games. As a beginner you make think it seems cool but trust me it's not something you need to learn there are servers out there where you can mess around with bunnyhopping if you'd like.
Gear
Headphones- You definitely need a good pair of Headphones so you can hear footsteps and talk to your teammates. A couple of good options are the Hyperx Cloud 2's, or the Cloud Cores. The two are very similar except the cloud 2's are a little more expensive, both great choices. You could also just get a pair of good headphones and buy a desktop mic to go with it.
Mouse- The mouse is one of the most important things you need for this game. I have the Razer
Deathadder and it is great but you could also check out the Zowie FK, Steelseries Sensei
and the Steelseries Rival. Just do some research and remember, DPI means nothing and the Hz should just be at least 500hz.
Keyboard- I highly suggest a Mechanical Keyboard. I have the Razer BlackWidow. You could check
out some Steelseries, Zowie, Razer or whatever brand you prefer. There are also different types of switches you can test out.
